Soumyajit SinhaThis Place is simply the BEST for now! (1) Guests from all over the world, with diff backgrounds (2) Great Discussion in thr TV room about world topics (3) Not a wild party place (4) Guests are very sober and matured (5) Nice and CLEAN Backyard (the only one hostel which has it, with free parking space) (6) 2 LIBRARIES nearby (7) 24 hours open store next block for snacks (8) 24/7 Subway (G Train) just next to Hostel Entrance (better than any other hostel in Brooklyn & Manhattan): DO NOT HAVE 2 WALK in the COLD..... (9) Big FAMILY Food supermarket with all groceries available: open till 9 pm (10) Very Clean Kitchen (the guests really clean up stuff from the sink) (12) Very Friendly & homely Management from Europe (NOT "give money first or get out: policy of OTHER HOSTELS") (13) Do not charge Late fee for checking out 1 or 2 hours Late (OTHER HOSTELS charge by Hour, if even 15 minutes late for check out) (14) SIMPLY< a great homely place for FOREIGNERS visiting the cold-hearted City of New York....U may find warm hearts to share here........ |

Customer reviewThe best thing was free Wifi at a reasonable speed and the cheap price. However the bad far outnumber the good and you pay for what you get: • Mosquitos in the kitchen area, and a lot of them. • Bedrooms smelled to high heaven of body odour - they definitely need to air the bedroom out during the day. I even opened the window one time and came back 30 mins later to find it closed again! Sure it was early November but I'd rather a chilly (freshly aired!) room during the middle of the day than a smelly one 24/7. • Floorboards creak terribly and with the constant guests coming in/out you need earplugs. • Nobody was there when I arrived (although I was a little late after my indicated arrival time) and bed was not changed from previous guest when I was shown the room. Nobody was there when I left too (despite knocking furiously and even calling the message bank (which was full)), so I could have walked out with god knows what and nobody would have known. • There was an older gentleman who I was under the impression works here (cleaned a few tables, unblocked the toilet etc) but was staying in the same dorm room as guests? I know space is tight, but c'mon! |

Customer reviewThe Hostel is a great place to meet people from all over the world. The funny stuff is that everybody one meets, no matter which part of the world they are from, seems to have impeccable & friendly behavior; [yet not wild.]... (1) Thus, the conclusion is, it seems the Hostel has a built in control mechanism to admit "pretty Decent" people, with who anybody, from any part of the world, irrespective of age bracket will feel comfortable with..... (2) SECONDLY, this place including the Cat & Hosts there provide a extremely COSY & HOMELY environment, which is HARDLY EVER FOUND in ANY OTHER HOSTEL in NYC........ (3) The subway is next door. CANNOT ASK 4 BETTER TRANSPORTATION 24/7.............. (4) What else, one met pretty interesting people w/ DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS (a RARITY in many hostels in NYC): one from a SPiritual Ashram checking out the mundane world; another a MBA/CPA type bound for hot job in China; another I.T. guy from Johannesburg with colorful stories 2 tell; a few French folks deciding next step of life; another very old yet the most "YOUNGEST soul" one can meet on the Planet, with stories of America and History.......another from Africa doing Phd in Cambridge or Harvard.........Whao!!! I was kind of Impressed......It is not the place where one sees only student types or family types........IT IS LIKE A HOME AWAY FROM HOME: railway PLATFORM ROOMS: very comfortable & peaceful; with people from all over the world, with the WIDEST RANGE OF BACKGROUNDS to share DIVERSE, COLORFUL STORIES......................even a hard core "serious/bookish" person like me "opened up and felt at ease"....................... Well, that kinda sums up my experience................ |

Shannon DunlapNeighborhood is a little run down - was not so comfortable wandering around there by myself. Apart from that the hostel was clean and convenient. People were friendly but the staff seemed absent a lot of the time for people arriving and leaving, and a little bit unsure about things. But once you were settled no issues at all. |

Customer review"HOME" away from home. Extremely comfortable, cozy and homely feeling. Very cheap price. Next door SUBWAY to hop to go anywhere in Manhattan (downtown and midtown). Next door great Chinese/Japanese food and Kentucky fresh hot chicken w/barbeque. VERY NICE, OPEN GARDEN (backyard) with comfortable seating to hang out under moonlight |

Customer reviewi did not like anything there. People were sometimes sleeping on the floor because of over booking. It was certainly due to an Internet problem but still, difficult to not have a nervous breakdown. |

Customer reviewReally good value for the money, perfect distance from the subway (despite the slightly sketchy neighborhood). The bathrooms could use a good scrub down, though, and fans! |

Customer reviewI liked the really friendly staff, ask them for whatever comes in your mind, they'll do what they can: just do it! Kitchen fully working with kitchenware, just buy to eat. 1 min from the subway station (Bedford-Stuyvesant), G line), right across Beford Ave. Notorius B.I.G. (Born and bred in Bedford-Stuyvesant) :"Bed-Stuy: Do or Die". Brooklyn's hot!! |
