Liked: Tidyness. Friendly. Good free activities. Free clubbing incl free alcohol? Wow!

Disliked: Kind of too big. Slooow elevator. Use the stairs instead.

Liked: Very big and clean. Staff helpful.

Disliked: A little sterile and not all that condusive to meeting other travellers. That doesn't really matter in New York though as you spend minimal time at the hostel as there is so much to do.

Liked: The organised tours they operated from the Hostel were amazing and perfect for the solo traveller, such as myself

Disliked: The disrespect of some of the other people staying there however this has nothing to do with the actual Hostel itself just the people that were staying there

Liked: The location was great, being close to a main subway line, central park, the guggenheim, etc. Staff were really friendly and helpful, as well.

Disliked: My keycard didn't work for my room for the duration of my stay, and the front desk didn't seem to know what to do about it. It was a little frustrating to have to wake people up just from knocking to get into my room each night. I felt bad about it.

Liked: everything about the hostel was just fantastic , I had a great time and will definitvely go back again early next year

Disliked: The room was a bit hot at night and had to leave the window open which brings in traffic noise.

Liked: Cleanliness, location was good. Some staff were very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Some of the staff were unhelpful and rude. I also had to change rooms each night.

Liked: This place is so well organised. All the tours available are really helpful in getting to know New York. Everything is clean, bedding and towels are readily available, lockers in rooms are big enough for both laptop case and handbag as well as having hooks for hanging. The bunks were stable enough so that bunkmates' movements didn't wake me, there are individual lights above each bed, and the onsite cafe, vending machines and lounge/library/outdoor areas give plenty of space for chilling.

Disliked: Can't think of anything! Great stay, thank you! (Except maybe that one or two of the cafe staff never cracked a smile and seemed like they were having a bad day every morning - they're probably not even Hostelling International employees but it was a bit of a dampener!)

Liked: Events organised by the hostel (pub crawls, bbqs, comedy nights) are really good and good for meeting people. Good location (upper west side), close to central park and subway. Really good hostel.

Liked: People from all over the world Good entertainment and things you can do, organised by the hostel honest people and nice atmosphere in the kitchen brilliant idea to offer flipflops so cheap Thank you!

Disliked: staff could be more informed about things that happened before they started their work this day (not informed about the internet which wasn't working all day long or about the fire alarm that went on three times the night) lockers are really expesive down in the celar

Liked: Close to subway and very clean. Rooms felt spacious even with 12 in them. Gospel tour was amazing but overpriced, do it yourself if you can.

Disliked: Not enough showers! Had to queue every time I wanted one. Hostel was massive and didn't feel very friendly. Fire alarms in the middle of the night!

Liked: I like that it is close to the Subway and the breakfast was very well and cheap !!!

Disliked: The bathrooms are ok but the showers for girls were dirty, hairs everywhere !!!

Liked: Huge kitchen, nice living room, nice patio. Very close to the subway.

Disliked: It is too expensive for the services provided (you have to pay for everything beside the room, like if you want to leave your bag for the day...), the bathrooms were too small and a bit dirty, but most of all the building is REALLY noisy. And so was the room. We slept really bad, cery few hours, cause of the noise of the street/ other people/ air conditioning. I'd say, it's pretty clean for NY, and I might go back... but I hope I can find another plavce to stay.

Liked: I liked that there were activities organized by the staff. So, I always had something to do.

Disliked: I was not a fan of the room situation. I think there should have been a preference about bunk choice (top or bottom). Also, the rooms kind of smelled.

Liked: Location; brilliant- 1 block from main subway lines to downtown manhattan, times sq etc. Clean; bathrooms were hotel standard, always hot water and no flip flops had to be worn in the showers for a change! Events; numerous daily and nightly activities going on, very easy to meet new people and enjoy the sites together and the beer! Atmosphere; generally a very very good hostel, I travelled down the east coast to 5 other major cities, but this hostel was by far the best in every area!! Recommended for singles, groups, old, young!

Disliked: nothing! could say that no breakfast was included, but for a hostel this size, would be near impossible!

Liked: This is a great hostel! I knew before I stayed from reading other reviews that the location wasn't great (which is true) it's fairly far from NY's hubbub. However, travelling around on the subway is part of NY's charm, so it didn't really bother me. The hostel is clean, friendly and the shower/toilet facilities are great. highly recommended.

Disliked: The room was very very very hot when full of sleeping bodies!
