Liked: This place isn't fantastic, but it's a safe and cheap place to lay your head and, for those coming from really far it seems like a good place to meet other travellers. When my friend and i arrived from Canada, we were immediately told of pub night, for instance. The place is in South Harlem, just West of the beautiful Central Park, so it's reasonably safe and reasonably close to the upper west side and the subway. The staff was a mixed bag, but generally really accommodating (didn't stress out about replacing my towel when it was stolen, gave me a new keycard without making me pay...) and the free breakfasts were nothing to write home about (seriously, why wouldn't a New York establishment provide decent bagels??)Overall, a good deal. I would recommend it to any laid back traveller.

Liked: Very bad service at the front desk. No towels during 3 days. No real information at the information page. There are two buildings, one of them without security and nobody of the staff team. No lift in any building and they are very high flats. Telephone doesn't work. Very bad impression.

Liked: Wow! This place truly was amazing! I can adamantly say that it far surpassed my expectations, especially for a hostel. From the moment you walk in, there's an immediate chilled-out ambiance. The staff were amazing; easy to converse with, always willing to assist, and always happy (at least from what i could detect). The place is a PERFECT meeting ground for travellers to NYC, especially younger students. You will easily make new friends (if you bother putting int he effort) and you will definitely enjoy your stay at this hostel. It's cheap and it's right next to Central Park. You could easily take the subway to Downtown or even walk from 106th st to 42nd...which i did everyday. This place is GREAT! Liked: muy buen servicio, relacion calidad precio buena, a 3 cuadras del metro, habitaciones comodas, lugar de ocio grande, dejan tomar adentro del hostel, que no muchos dejan... volveria nuevamente, lo unico que el desayuno es medio pobre, pero es lo unico.

Liked: I just spend one night there, it was great. they have always stuff going on... that day, there was a comedy show on the lounge... the location is not that good, but the transportation in nyc is sooooo easy and u can get everywhere... so at the end doesnt matter where it is! the staff very friendly, Its not clean at all, but its ok.

Liked: The atmosphere between the guests and some of the people who worked there. The hostel sometimes hires guests to do minor work and that makes a nice mix. The comedy night at Sundays and all the other activities organized for the guests are a really nice addition to the experience too!

Liked: Nice, decent hostel; pretty good, convenient location and enthusiastic staff. Linens weren't changed daily but were clean, and the washrooms/showers were relatively clean.
