Liked: The internet, bathroom was clean

Disliked: The area, it's very close to the Bronx, i wouldn't advise walking around the streets after dark. The location isn't close to any of the action in NY, i wouldn't advise this place if your looking for fun at night unless you want to catch the subway or a taxi. We had a double room so we could put our luggage, it is very prices $140 a night you could spend a little more money and have a 4 star hotel closer to the action. We were also ripped off our deposit fee.

Liked: Excellent location - near subway, MTA bus, and Central Park.

Disliked: Most of the staff are accomodating but not generally courteous. 3 to 5 Star staffs are more courteous. One of the smaller Latino staff is not courteous at all. Booking is quite messed up - I booked on a 6-bed room but ended up in a 10-bed room (unfortunately with all the rush and exhaustion of travelling I forgot I booked on a 6-bed room and accepted the 10-bed room!!! It was difficult to stay with so many strangers who are allergic to lights and noise! When I get up 7am everybody still asleep, when I come back at 11pm all were asleep - in all these times I had to use my celfone as flashlight as I was too ashamed to put on the lights to avoid frowns from the other strangers!

Liked: Great location next to Central Park ,close to subway and right next to good bus line,nice patio space.

Disliked: Althought it probably was quite clean- the dark colors, old tiles, etc. made it feel like it wasn't. The kitchen and eating area looked dingy. It just really needs some sprucing up and clean and white to make it feel crisp and clean. Desperately needs hooks for clothes in rooms and in bathrooms!! Although it sounds negative, I would stay there again. It's a good place, it just could be much better!!

Liked: Nice friendly staff. Despite the upper location on West, easy to connect with Downtown via several subway lines.

Disliked: Please fix the lock on the toilet door on the fifth floor. Sometimes, when privacy is especially appreciated, it is not nice when other people open the door.

Liked: The private rooms are in a separete building to the dorms, which means it is quieter.

Disliked: The communication fromt eh ostel was unclear, 3 days before arrival, I received an e-mail statign the price quoted was incorrect and we'd have to pay more than twice what we expected. Repeated attempts to contact them were unsuccessful. Eventuially, the day before our arrival, we managed to in touch on the phone and the original price quoted (for a 2 bed private room) was confirmed as opposed to that for a 2-bed private ensuite, which my confirmation e-mail quoted, but which should have been $135 per night, not $65 per night. When we arrioved, I was told I still had to pay a balance of $250 (when my total price shoudl have been $168). I queried it, and eventually, it was corrected. None of the staff appear to know how to use the computer systems, whilst waiting in queue, we heard many similar discussions on bookings being confirmed, but not actually available or prices being changed spontaneously. If you are on a budget, you should check the "pay on arrival" costs carefully.

Liked: The service was perfect. People are always here for you at any time. And the rooms were ok. Roomates paid attention to not make to much noise. Bathrooms are ok.

Liked: Located right on Central Park, the staff were friendly, great atmosphere and vibe. The double bed was very comfortable.

Disliked: Although always clean, the shared bathroom had a hole in the ceiling, which caused water dripping on the toilet. In addition, the shower was broken. We ended up having to use the bathrooms on a different floor.

Liked: The location was great. And I had a chance to meet people.

Disliked: I think there're too many beds per room. A 12 beds room should definetely be a 10 beds room. Not enough space.

Liked: not much.

Disliked: IT was the worst hostel I have ever stayed!!!! Smell inside the room was too terrible. I don't want to even think again how it was like. And the bathroom was horribly dirty. looks like a habitat of cockroaches. Breakfast can be more varied as well.

Liked: It was a very contemporary place.

Disliked: I was in a 12 bedded dorm and it was very crowded. I also didn't like the separate showers and toilets as it made it difficult to get changed in private.

Liked: i liked the price, the rest was crap

Disliked: wifi is very slow, bathrooms are small and not clean, the dorms are too small, it's always too loud in the common rooms, because they are playing really loud music all day

Liked: The breakfast is nice with cereals, milk, bread, jelly.

Disliked: They charge me USD4 for luggage storage. Other hostels do not charge luggage storage for a few hours.

Liked: The access to the rooms was with a key card. They had good suggestions on what to do in the city.

Disliked: The rooms were very small to get 12 people in. Some of the staff were a little hard to talk to and undertsand. 2 toilets and 4 showers got a little crowded with 20 people sharing.

Liked: Really good location and value for money. The staff were also very helpful.

Disliked: My only comment would be that the light fitting in my room was on the wall right next to the top bunk and it didn't have a cover so the bulbs were exposed. It wasn't my bunk but if it had been I wouldn't have been happy.
