Liked: The price is pretty good, I think I only paid $20 for one night.

Disliked: The rooms are not in the same building as the lobby, so if you happen to arrive when it is raining hard like I did, then you will be wet. The hostel has air conditioning a bit cold for some people. They could repaint some of the rooms and a bit more cleaning wouldn't hurt. Maybe it is me, but New Orleans seems to be a city in poverty and the area may appear safe to many.

Liked: Location was excellent - 50 metres to trolley to downtown. Felt safe also.

Disliked: 12 beds, 1 shower & 2 toilets (but no sink to wash hands in 2nd toilet). All not very clean. Kitchen area was a mess also. Couldn't find much gear to use in kitchen either.

Liked: Great hostel! Great common area makes it easy to meet new people, helpful staff, clean beds and showers! Location a bit far from the French Quarters however the streetcars are just across the streets, 20 dollars for a 5 day pass! 5 dollar breakfast: good value!

Disliked: Location is the only downside, could be a little shady to walk around in at night.

Liked: India House is an amazing place to stay. I loved the atmosphere, and the meals that they offer...as well as the free coffee. The outside area with the pool is super and quite a lovely place to sit and relax with other fellow travelers.

Disliked: The location is a bit outside of town, but not too far that you feel removed from the action.

Disliked: Private room could have had more shelves to put your stuff on.

Liked: It was incredibly close to the trolly car (you can see the stop from the front..), a very pleasant surprise how easy it was for me to get to the House of Blues (I figured I'd have to drive). Very friendly staff.

Disliked: The lockers weren't in my dorm room, they were outside of it.

Liked: One of the best hostels i have stayed in (now done about 25). The peopel there were great. The hostel staff were good and the chef ( a liverpudlian) was excellent. Best place to stay in America!! They accidently over charged me by a dollar and the receptionist insisted she would buy me a beer as an apology.

Disliked: Some staff were not too great. A group of us got threatened to be thrown out. Admittedly it was 5am and we were still drinking but he didnt give us a waring or tell us we were disturbing anyone

Liked: The location of the hostel to the cable car system that takes you right into the heart of the the French Quarter is fantastic. It is literally across the street from the tram stop and the tram comes by frequently. The hostel has a lot of charm and seems like it would be a great place to meet other travellers. Free wifi is nice.

Disliked: I found the staff and their helpfulness to be quite poor. They never really seemed to know what was going on or their availability of the place. When we first checked in the girl told us they had overbooked and even though we booked a dorm room that we were both supposed to be in, we were split up into 2 diff rooms. I also heard another guest enquire about staying an additonal night at the hostel and wanted to know if they had any availabiltiy. The girl said she didn't know and to check back the next day!!! Are you kidding me? How do you not know if you have beds available at your hostel? Very poorly ran.

Liked: Brilliant place to relax and recover from a night out in the French Quarter or if you simply want to stay in and socialise at your leisure

Disliked: Bit of a hike back at night but was not all bad as it is on the way past food retailers

Liked: The kitchen being open 24hrs since a lot of places close down their kitchen at some point in the night.

Disliked: In one of their showers (1st fl) there is a very high huge window with no sort of curtain. When you shower you can actually be seen showing by neighbors on the 2nd floor. Creepy/not acctable. It was very overpriced and dirty. By European hostel standards a dorm room is probably worth $11 and then maybe the torn plastic mattresses, the toilets and showers outside, the cat hair floating all over the place might be acceptable.

Disliked: radiator in a room didn't heated the whole room. more radiators should be installed

Liked: The common areas have a fun bohemian atmosphere.

Disliked: Our private room was terrible. Did not have a real door, but instead, two sheets of plywood which could be fastened by a hook. Walls were essentially paper, onto a noisy courtyard. Sheets were definitely not clean.

Liked: It has a very special touch to it. The breakfast is cheap & good.

Disliked: If you don't like it alternative (which may include sleeping in a tiny barn, dirt and shared bathrooms on the other side of the courtyard), don't come here.

Liked: Good location (close to the rail car) and great character of the hostel.

Disliked: Meals are pretty expensive though tasty. When I stayed there it was pretty quiet and a majority of the people staying pretty much lived there... Beds aren't the best either
