HI-Nantucket

Right on the beach at Surfside on Nantucket Island, a historic isle with a serene atmosphere to soothe the weariest of travellers. The Hostel is a 19th century lifeboat station, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Visit the largely untouched island of Nantucket. With a wealth of fascinating history to discover, and a selection of fine, secluded beaches around our Picturesque island you'll not be left wanting for things to occupy the time you don't spend relaxing in our homely hostel, originally a life saving station.

There is plenty of untouched nature and a wealth of history to discover on Nantucket Island. The Robert B. Johnson Memorial Hostel, named after a former HI-AYH Executive Director, was built as a lifesaving station in 1873. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The facility is just across the street from Surfside Beach and only 3 ½ miles from the ferry docks and Nantucket village. Facilities include kitchen, picnic area with barbecue, volleyball, linen rental.

Don't miss the Whaling Museum to learn about the island's fascinating past.

Explore the area by bicycle, inline skates, kayak, or on foot, then finish your day off with a seafood dinner or a sunset on the beach.

Rooms are dorm style accommodations. Please bring your own towels and personal items. Linen is included, but please....no sleeping bags. thanks!!
