Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Incredibly rude staff. Bad policies about bookings. Unhelpful and did not provide anything for the price you were paying that you could get elsewhere

Liked: It's located right next to the beach and that's a great plus if you are staying just one or two days in L.A. but nevertheless want to enjoy this lay over.

Disliked: The area is definitely not the safest. Getting breakfast early in the morning might be challenging. I was as little scared by some homeless people at the beachfront.

Liked: Still same atomosphere as I know. Friendly staff and travellers. I stayed in dormitory room which was ocean side so every morning ocean breeze wake me up and ready to go. Nice bar area has a party every night so you don't need to look for some nice bars in the hood. But there is also a lot of night clubs and bars you already know where you are. Nearby beach and boardwalk. I love this hostel and Venice Beach that's why I stayed there again. I highly reccommend Venice Beach Cotel for everyone!!!

Disliked: I guess nothing at all.

Liked: Suprised at the high standard of cleaning every day by the housekeeping. The manager and staff were more than accommodating all the time. Very easy to make friends! Would recommend to all passing travellers!

Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: *amazing staff *amazing location *rooms well maintained

Disliked: *Smoking - manager allows patrons to smoke in bar, which flows into your room if it's nearby. You will be tasting smoke all day, all night. Yum. *Internet - is not free. Yes they know that it is 2011. *No Laundry - catching a bus to a laundromat is ridiculous *Floors - Rooms are mostly clean, but floor has not been vacuumed in years.

Liked: Great location, staff were so friendly and helpful (and that makes such a difference! Especially when you've had a bad experience at other places). Free luggage store was great. You're right on the beach with a taxi stand outside.

Disliked: There are only two unisex bathroom/toilets per floor for quite a number of rooms. I thought it would be a problem but I never actually ended up having to wait.

Liked: the location for the beach was awesome, also a few god bars just a quick stumble away.

Disliked: not a friendly atomosphere, i wasnt shown around when i checked in or told about any activities they had on offer nor were they talked about by staff or other travelers which makes it a bit hard for a lone traveler also i could feel the springs in my bed

Liked: PEOPLE RUNNING IT WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL

Disliked: THE KITCHEN HAD NO STOVE,2 VERY VERY BAD HOT PLATES. PARKING WAS QUITE EXPENSIVE,WE HAD TO KEEP RUNNING OUT WITH CHANGE OR KEEP MOVING THE VEHICLE

Liked: Great location, nice staff, no serious complaints, we were happy with what we got and what we paid given the availability/prices in LA.

Disliked: The whole place could do with a pretty basic facelift which would make a huge difference to the quality of the stay, rooms were clean but basic and a little rough around the edges, but not an unpleasant place to stay. Internet access was extra not included. 24hr luggage storage security was a little lax, but not terrible.

Liked: This place is awesum - Have travelled allot and this would be the best place. The staff talk to you which is rear nowdays. If your tavelling alone then put this on the list of places to stay.

Disliked: Only fault is the stairs but only 3 stories - have stayed worst lol

Liked: Great location!!

Disliked: No elevator! they also made us check out at 11am and check in again at 2pm because we had apparantly been booked in another room the second night. Not a positive experience as we had to get up early to pack our belongings, leave them in a storageroom and be without a room for 3hrs. We had to plan our day around this and it kind of ruined it.

Liked: Honest, no frills accommodation right on Venice Beach. Staff very friendly - the receptionist helped me out by scanning in a document and emailing it to me without fuss and without charge. Free on-street parking is available a few blocks away.

Liked: It is very close to the beach and the bus station is not far away either. Moreover it was pretty clean for a hostel.

Disliked: The describtion says that you have wifi - yes you do only if you pay every hour, daily or you can get wifi from downstairs in "danny's" a restaurant/bar.

Liked: The location was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The wifi was too expensive and the double bed my partner and I used in a private room was too soft and sank in the middle too much, squashing us together. Also, although there was an overhead fan, the room was a bit hot and stuffy.

Liked: It's right on the Venice Boardwalk and there are many activities for the people staying at the hostel.

Disliked: It slightly smells like piss, the rooms have no air-conditioning except a fan in the ceiling that doesn't make a difference, the lighting gave me a headache, and our view was straight into a dorm across a hallway.
