Liked: it is a good hostel. and in summertime it is even better because of the close beach. the price without booking before is much more expensive. there is no free wifi.

Liked: The staff were teriffc in helping with any needs. The price charged for the facilities offered are a bit high considering a backpacker can get a better deal such as breakfast included and a proper kitchen at some other backpackers close by.

Liked: Unbeatable location - even tho its an hour bus ride to down town there is so much more happening on Venice Beach than down town itself and staff will organise tours to the big LA sights for you. We had a really dark dingy room with no sunlight although it was fine for sleeping - we got very cold during the nights. Although staff were generally very willing to help a couple were not particularly friendly. The place was kept very clean. I would definitely recommend to everyone - only one thing I would change - stop smoking in the communal lounge.

Liked: Location is great but also the rooms and bathrooms were nice and spacious. Cleanliness is excellent. For anyone with a car, there is ample free parking located a few minutes' walk away. In short, an excellent choice for LA!

Liked: Had a great stay at VBC! Kerry and the staff were extremely friendly and very, very helpful. Couldn't ask for a better stay, wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.

Liked: Nice hostel and lovely people who run it, especially the crazy manageress Kerry - she's great. We had a room of four which was very clean with its own bathroom that was also very clean. Downsides: there's not a lot to do in Venice Beach. Santa Monica has much more going on at night. Walking to Washington Boulevard (where all the bars and restaurants are) takes about ten minutes along the boardwalk which can be quite dodgy. Also the hostel doesn't do breakfast and only has two computers so it takes ages to get on one.
