Liked: Staff are very friendly and kind. The Venice Beach is in front of the hostel, so if you like beach it is good to stay.

Disliked: It will be better to bring own towel.

Disliked: We have been travelling for 3 months staying in hostels and this was the worst. Our bed was broken and sagged badly in the middle, the door to our room jammed and could only be shut but slamming it and our level only had 2 bathrooms to share between 12 dorms which were constantly filthy. Plus the hostel itself was located in a seedy area which was full of drug users and drunks after dark. We did not feel safe.

Liked: location is awesome - although with that comes a bit of noice given the close proximity to venice beach

Disliked: They wouldn't let me check-in right away which was a pain because I was absolutely exhausted after flying from Aus. Also they claimed that they had cancelled my booking because my credit card had expired, despite the fact my credit card had been debited the deposit. Not sure what else you're supposed to do if your credit card expires between the time you make your booking and the time of your stay. I had a new valid one by the time I got there, and they already had received my deposit!

Liked: I like the location, by the beach. Also the safety of parking the car for free on the streets nearby.

Disliked: I didn't like the room on the same floor as the reception and internetroom. The other guests was talking loud just outside our door. We did change our room and then there was not any problems.

Liked: Location is fantastic, it's just a 2min walk to the beach. Basketball courts and "Muscle Beach" is 5-10min walk. Lots of pubs, restaurants and shows going on very nearby. Staff are pretty friendly and helpful.

Disliked: For those who aren't so well travelled and enjoy the safeness of surbubia, Venice Beach and the area the hostel is in may come across as a complete culture shock. At night, it is NOT safe for the faint-hearted and heading anywhere into the residential areas is a definite No-No. In saying that, most people go for the beach and the sights along the boardwalk. Rooms and bathrooms aren't terribly clean and would be depressing if it weren't for the beach views. Place has a lot of potential because of the location and how Venice Beach accommodation is so expensive. It needs some more investment to improve rooms, facilities and safety. The info on pricing is way off. It costs around $80 inc tax/tips to get from/to Union Station. The laundrette is a 20min walk away, despite it being listed as 2min away. I'd research the area a little to know how much things will cost you before booking.
