Disliked: There is only one chair in the private room. The shower water cannot go through fast enough so that your feet are in the water.

Liked: cheap. best location. spacious rooms - i stayed in the mixed 6x with attached bathroom - friendly staff. smallish kitchen was never an issue. will definitely stay there again.

Disliked: having to pay for wifi that was fairly shotty at times.

Liked: The location of the Cotel (at the beach) is very nice. It is a bit long but very easy to come from the train station with just one bus. The property is clean and secure. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The bed in our double room was ridiculously small. The kitchen was very small and not well equipped (no real stove).

Liked: Location is great - right on the beach and easy to get buses all over LA. Staff were very helpful and there is a planned event every night which is great way to meet people.

Disliked: Too few bathrooms.

Liked: The great location, price and friendly welcome from the staff.atmosphere was cosy and safe.

Disliked: Not enough tea cups and mugs provided in the kitchen...could not make a much needed cuppa!

Liked: great locatiin if you want to be in the centreof the promenade, staff were friendly and helpful, clean sheets and bathrooms.

Liked: Absolutly worth the Money!! The Location is great and the staff is very nice and helpful! The rooms and the restrooms are clean and tidy and it's a real good place to meet people as the hostel provides a lots of evening activities and bar/pub crawls.

Disliked: Unfortunatly, you have to pay for the Internet and there is no breakfast included. (At least you get free Coffee and Tea in the mornings) We went there in April and althought there was a fan on the ceiling it got really hot in our room and i don't want to imagine how hot it gets in the high summer.

Liked: I loved the location and the guys from the hostel. They organized nights out and were super friendly. Venice Beach is really quite after 9 pm but there are a few places to have dinner and have a few drinks just around the corner. I stayed there 4 days and was not bored.

Disliked: Free Internet would be great for all.

Liked: The location was great - right by the beach and all the action. Within walking distance of Abbott Kenny and 1 min from bus stop to airport, UCLA, Getty. Great locale in vibrant part of LA.

Disliked: The kitchen was pretty bad. Small, dirty, not any utensils, no stove or stove-top and no table and chairs for more than 1 person...Definitely needs work. This was barely a place to prepare a bowl of cereal, let-alone an actual meal. Restaurant SEED across the street was delicious though - although pricey for a backpackers budget, its organic, vegan fare was a delicious reprise from the usual stuff you eat while on the road.

Liked: Nice bar. Willing to arrange a lot (for example tours or taxi).

Disliked: The kitchen is a bit small. There are not that much facilities to use. This time is was not busy in the hostel, but in a busier period it's definitely not possible to cook on only one cooker. A few more showers would also make sense. 2 per floor isn't that much.

Liked: right on the beach beside venice beach. fairly decent sized room for 6 people

Disliked: could have been cleaner, bathroom was a bit stinking. A bit dodgey going out around this area at night so many people dont. i dont know if i would stay here again. i think i would choose to stay in santa monica next time and just walk up and down to venice beach for the market as ther is not much else there really.

Liked: Location was great, being right near Venice Beach and all its greatness. Staff were great and very informative and keen to help. Room I stayed in was good, awesome having a bathroom in the room of 4 bunks. easy to get to from LAX.

Disliked: nothing really, kitchen was a bit funky but it was fine.

Liked: Great location, right next to the beach. Clean bathroom and shower. Also the bar/restaurant downstairs was nice to hang out in with free wi-fi.

Disliked: The room did smell of wee and the carpets were in bad condition. It is an old hostel in need of updating.

Liked: The location was good just by the beach. If you like Venice this is a place for you. Allthough you have to take few busses to get anywhere but that's the same deal anywhere in LA. We took two busses from Venice to LAX and it cost 2dollars! You just have to love Santa Monica Blue Busses. This was a good hostel for us because it was very affordable and in a good location.

Disliked: It could have been cleaner.
