Liked: Although a little far from the action of some parts of LA, the Surf City hostel has an awesome location for a few days at the beach and nights of partying. You have everything you need at this relaxed location away from the busy city. Some people really dislike LA, but if you stay at this hostel you'll definitely enjoy the yourself. Be sure to bike your way up the coast to the Santa Monica pier!

Liked: Thank you City Surf! I am a female travelling alone for a short while! I could not have asked for a better place to arrive. Staff were great, made you feel at home! Kitchen was brilliant with breaky too. LOCATION IS TOPS. If you ride to Venice beach it is 50km return...just in case you did not do your research like me. Though brilliant ride!

Liked: very great atmosphere, lots of young budget travellers from all over the world, friendly stuff, great place to stay (lots of restaurants, very close to the beach). quite not before midnight, kitchen is for self-service (bring your own food, coffee and some basics e.g. bred are offered for free).loved to be there, will come back soon :-)

Liked: This hostel was awesome. This is the second time I have stayed here. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the location is PERFECT!! Breakfast is not so great though, and there are no safe lockers available in the rooms. Apart from that the location and atmosphere in the hostel is amazing. I met so many people from all over the world.

Liked: Location was fab for the beach, not so good for west hollywood where we spent a lot of our time, parking was easy to find and cheap, nightlife around hostel was very lively, great atmosphere, lots of places to eat could see beach from hostel window. kitchen facilities, staff were very friendly and always willing to help. public transportation seemed fairly easy from location (although we never used it ourselves), links by bus to metro etc.

Liked: This hostel was right on the beach if you're interested in beaching it in LA. Its also close to a mall and afew bus routes. There was a serious overbooking problem here however, with many backpackers sleeping on the diningroom floor or having to share beds. I was placed in the staff room and there was no place for my bag to go so it was proped against a wall! The internet doesnt always work and costs you about $2 for 10minutes & the machine eats your money.

Liked: Be aware there is no where to lock up your personal belongings so brings locks for your suitcases. There are alos lots of stairs so be aware when bring suitcases.

Liked: The location was fantastic, Hardly spent anytime in my room there because of the atmosphere and the people we met to go out and abouts on the beach and bars. extremely helpful and friendly staff, nice breakfast. Highley recommended.

Liked: the location directly next to the wonderful hermosa beach is great and the security is so much better than in other parts of LA , but it's a bit hard to get around if you don't have a car
