Liked: Free pick up from the airport.The staff were VERY helpful in giving directions etc although their information on the level of bus fares etc was very out of date.

Disliked: Unfriendly fellow guests who seemed to be long-term residents. Dirty throughout and very old fixtures and fittings etc. Very poorly equipped kitchen. Poor security (inadequate lockers and no locks to the dorm doors). No privacy (no locks to the shower/wc doors).

Liked: Can not fault this place. Ian was unbelievably friendly and extremely helpful and gave us lots of good directions! He also helped us out with ideas for what to do when we had nothing else planned. The hostel is only a 10 min walk to Venice Beach which can not be missed on a weekend due to it's festival vibe. Breakfast, tea and coffee were all included in the price. Best thing about this place are the vending machines....you'll find out why when you stay!

Liked: A fantastic hostel. Great staff. A suburb place tomeet people, close to the beach and the famous Abbot Kinney Blvd for nightlife and restaurants. Has a proper hostel atmosphere unlike the impersonal overpriced HI Santa Monica down the road.

Liked: This place was like coming home, already from the first day. They even picked me up from the airport. Really good service and safe place. I chose to stay longer since I liked so much.

Liked: I especially liked Emanuelle who works there - I think maybe without he knows it, he brings a lot of good karma to the place in his own laid back chilled-out kind of style, which is very nice. He has a good sense of humor and knows the neighborhood very well.

Liked: Not too much to be honest although its ok for a quick overnight stay!

Disliked: Not much privacy in the upstairs bathroom...no door handle or lock.

Liked: Its clean. Its about 15 mins walk from the beach

Disliked: - As I mentioned, there's wireless internet access only in the main building, not in the building where the non-dormitory rooms are located - Someone is supposed to show up every morning and stock the kitchen with breakfast supplies, but I've never seen any. There was a box of cereal for a while but that was gone - While the building itself is quiet, its noisy on the street b/c of the road construction. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep!

Liked: The hostel had a great relased atmosphere so made it easy to meet lots of poeple. It was a good place to just chill out for a few days if you like a good walk to the beach

Disliked: The location is pretty bad, it is a good 20min wald to the beach and forever to get anywhere on public transport. It is very Isolated. However Public transport is cheap and effiecent It is run by a group of blokes and it is so obvious!!! It has a lot of potential... not much privacy for showers, and some beds were just a matress on the floor

Liked: There was a friendly atmosphere encouraged by the staff. Unfortunately, there is no sign on the front of the house to show that it is in fact a hostel, making it very difficult to find if you don't take the hostel's airport shuttle. There is no lock on the front door, no locks on the bedrooms, essentially anyone could walk in and do whatever. The lockers are not big enough for all computers, and considering there are no other locked areas of the hostel, this is very inconvenient. The location is good for venice beach but not for anywhere else in LA, downtown being at least an hour away on the bus. The beds don't feel stable, there are up to 13 people in one room, there are no ladders to get onto the top bunks. Breakfast was not always on time, and was only available for one hour. There is only 2 showers and 2 bathrooms in the whole place. Good atmosphere if you want to feel as though you're a guest in someone's house.
