Welcome to the GoNorth Base Camp Hostel and Alaska Travel Center

The GoNorth Alaska Travel Center in Fairbanks is a hostel, visitor's center, meeting point and information clearing house for Alaska adventurers of all types. Here you will find a comfortable bed under a dry roof, clean showers and toilets, telephones, fax and e-mail access, all in a safe, comfortable place to socialize, cook, and plan your adventure.

The first photograph is our pavilion building, with kitchen, showers, bathrooms, internet and telephone for guests. This is your base camp in Fairbanks. Cook, barbecue, hang out and meet other travelers, check out our activities bulletin board, and prepare for or recover from your adventures here. While visiting, you may want to borrow a bike ($25/day) or a canoe ($35/day).

Right across the driveway is our travel center lobby. Come visit us here and we will help you plan and book your vacation. We can help you prepare for wilderness travel in Alaska with suggestions, equipment rental assistance, maps, and logistics assistance. We can sell you a fishing license, help you outfit yourself for an outdoor adventure, arrange air or ground transportation for you, and guide you on your way.

Each of our tent-cabins have 5 beds each. They are regular single beds, not bunks. A bed costs $25/person/night. We provide a sheet, pillow, and pillowcase but towels and sleeping bags are the responsibility of the guest. Both are available at the lobby however. Beds and tents are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, although we will take reservations if you wish to guarantee them with a credit card. Give us a ring when you get into town, and we'll let you know about availability and give you directions. Alternatively, you could print out the map to our facility.

When you arrive, you will find us mingling with our guests, working hard trying to help make everybody's stay in Alaska as easy, affordable and enjoyable as possible. Feel free to make yourself comfortable, have some coffee, and discuss your travel plans with us. We maintain an extensive library of resources to help you, and we can help you book tours, transportation or rentals all over the north-country.

The GoNorth Adventure Center is a base camp and resource center where you can plan your wilderness expeditions, prepare your equipment and baggage, arrange transportation, and meet other adventure travelers who are doing similar things. Make yourself comfortable here. It's your base camp!

People can cancel bookings up to 2 calender days in advance at no cost.
No shows will be charged full amount of first night.
