Liked: Ivan was a great host. Totally helpful, friendly and nice. The house is okay for backpackers, you can use everything in the house: 2 computers, complete kitchen, tablesoccer, laundry and dryer and a cool backyard with BBQ and basketball basket. If I stay in Dallas/Fort Worth again, I will stay in Irvings Backpacker House by Ivan.

Disliked: Unfortunetaly not that clean. It was okay but the house need a basic cleansing (especially the bathrooms). And the house definitely needs a new couch!!!!!

Liked: Great atmosphere, we met some great people! Carlos really looks after the guests here and has activities planned out for a whole week! We went to red river saloon which was fab, easily accessible from the train stop and not far from dallas. Bedrooms were great and everything was clean. BEST travellers place to stay in Dallas hands down.

Liked: Carlos was great, he was so welcoming and takes you on trips out - eg cinema for $1.25! All linens and laundry are free and there is tea and coffee to help yourself to! There is no curfew and there is so much freedom to do as you please as there are no staff actually living in the hostel - but if you're needing any help you can just give Carlos a call on the hostel telephone :)

Disliked: Liked everything but just remember to bring cash as Carlos doesnt have a card machine :)

Liked: Spacious

Disliked: The owner of the property was a bit disorganised, and had a huge group enter on our second night. As he had not planned them properly, he had to move us around which was irritating.

Liked: Irving is between Fort Worth and Dallas - the TRE (train) goes about every 1-2 hours and takes you there. The hostel is basically a house you use with other travellers. the guy from the hostel, carlos, comes about every day to check i people and helps you to make your plans (if you want) - he likes to take guests to the near by cinema or a cowboy-megastore and you can ask him to pick you up after fort worth rodeo (when no trains are working anymore) ... for sure you have to pay for that (but it's cheaper than a taxi and he tells you before, so you can decide. it was great fun to stay there and i can recommend it to anybody, who wants to visit Dallas/Fort Worth!

Liked: staff was very friendly and helpful. Always ready to assist. good facilities and comfortable common area.

Disliked: not cleaned enough. needs to have cleaners come through once a large group has gone through - not just once a week with additional minor cleaning done by staff daily. Also need a vehicle as public transport only runs hourly.

Liked: i didnt like anything about this property

Disliked: the kitchen was dirty, the fridge hadnt been cleaned im sure in months, and next door had a huge dog which barked most of the night, this place is right out in the middle of no where costs $7.00 on the train its miles from dallas and far to expensive just spend a couple more dollars and you can get a clean motel room with no barking dogs and no hassle, the most important problem was the old dude carlos that runs this place he will hassle and constantly harrass you into excepting lifts from him then he will charge you a large amount of cash it happened the whole time he will say come on im going for a drive let you see the city or shopping mall and if you do except that lift when you get there he demands cash, its a horrible place and its very wrong what that man does you wont be able to enjoy your time as he will be on you nonstop as he realises you have money and he is out to take it from you.

Also there is a guy that works at the hostel called Jim he will take you were you need to go for a small fee. He's very good even took us to Wal Mart and waited. Thank you

Liked: It's just a house, you feel at home, great kitchen (with lots of free things) and living room (inlcuding a massage chair!). Lots of bathrooms for the size of the property. Free washer and dryer (really good ones). Free towels. The staff is lovely, he gave me lots of information about the area, things to do and he even offer to drive me to the mall or the shops. Oh! and the bunk beds are wooden custom made, the best ones of all the hostels I've been in.

Disliked: The location in between Dallas and Fort Worth so it's good if you want to visit both without moving accommodation. But the trains linking the cities with where the hostel don't run too often so you have to be aware of the timetables.
