Liked: awesome kitchen and common room (pool, tablesoccer, nice tv-room, a lot of internet spots) the dinner cooked by one staff member and an asian group was awesome and way to much. good breakfast. good staff

Liked: The location was great! The common area, kitchen, and lounge were very nice. There was a lot of information about things to do and see in chicago. The hostel was very clean overall.

Disliked: Our room was very cold! We even asked someone to fix it, but it was still freezing at night and the blankets were thin. For two people to share a private room was not a good deal. The prices for a bed in a shared room looked reasonable though.

Liked: The hostel is super clean, the staff is very helpful and the receptionist even went out with us for drinks, the location is superb since it is very close to the skytrain station and about 15 minutes from downtown and it`s also very close to a street full of bars and pubs. I met lots of interesting people there and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Liked: Thought it was very clean, accessible, provided good directions and information about things to do in the city. Met some really nice people while staying here.

Disliked: Radiators were on full-force - turn em down a little so there's still air to breathe.

Liked: A great place to stay in Chicago - I've stayed at both main hostels in Chicago and this one is better. The atmosphere is really friendly, staff are great. My husband lost his passport during our time there and the staff kept asking us how we were going and if we were ok. Free breakfast is a great deal, love the bagels with blueberry and cream cheese. They also have free musical instruments like a grand piano and guitars, pretty awesome.

Disliked: I would have loved wifi in the rooms - we had to sort out banking in public areas. Also the temperature fluctuated a bit in the hostel between floors/rooms.

Liked: Loved the atmosphere - everything from the music to the decor in the common room took me by surprise. Definitely felt more like a swanky hotel than a hostel. Everyone was very helpful, the elevator clean, overall it felt very clean, chill, and safe. I've already recommended The Getaway and will be staying there again when I visit Chicago next.

Disliked: I stayed in a dorm room with ensuite bathroom, which was fine. The qualms that I had were that the bathroom door didn't close correctly and wouldn't lock, and the toilet didn't have a lid. Also, they say the lockers are free, but neglect to mention that you need to bring a lock. Not a big deal, but had I known I would have brought one with me (they sell locks for $5)

Liked: I loved the area, even though it isnt close to downtown chicago the bus links are everywhere and the surrounding area is lovely. Felt very safe.

Disliked: It was hard to meet other travellers

Liked: They holds lots of activities every week and let people know each other. The lobby and gathering room are fantastic!

Disliked: Men&Women restroom are not on every floor. It's a little bit inconvenience.

Liked: Great communal areas. Dorm with ensuite is a good idea. Lincoln park is a great area of Chicago. It's only a few merest stops to downtown and about 20 mins walk from lake Michigan. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the area.

Disliked: I can't think of any faults really

Liked: They had free computers to use which was great, and free printing! The kitchen is pretty good (could use with some common oil, salt, seasoning etc like in some other hostels). Had a lot of great activities on during the week and at night, especially the blues night was great. Also had a lot of fun games like pool etc, was a great place to meet people. The staff were super friendly as well. Close to a supermarket and places to get food.

Disliked: The door of the room I stayed in didn't shut properly, so it wasn't too secure. The location of the hostel is also a bit out of the way, about a 30-40 minute walk into town if you don't mind a walk. But it is quite convenient to get the bus/train and also the area is quite a nice area.

Liked: One of the best hostels we have stayed in. Great kitchen set up. Fantastic free breakfast. Free wifi worked really well. Laundry facilities good. Great location. Well done!

Disliked: Please ensure people don't go onto patio area after 10 pm because it can be noisy.

Liked: free everything, wi-fi, pc usage, free towels, brekkie which is amazing...loads of food available. bedrooms are a good size, comfy and have good sized lockers. subway is about 5-7 min walk. downtown is 15 on the subway. one of the best hostels ive stayed in ever

Liked: Massive kitchen, plenty of storage space, plenty of lockers (provide own lock)m social activities, great communal areas, helpful staff, close to an L station, clean, nice breakfast, quiet street, close to bars and restaurants

Disliked: Not very central location (about 20-30 mins downtown on the L), not enough power sockets (in my 10 bed dorm 8 beds had sockets behind the bottom bunk, leaving me to use the ones in the communal areas which were all being used or the one over the sink in the bathroom), very big hostel so not at all intimate, but the social activites are useful for meeting fellow travellers.

Liked: This is the best hostel I've stayed at so far. Spacious, clean, friendly staff, patio, breakfast. It's great!

Disliked: It took them 3 days to replace the soap in the bathroom.

Liked: Good sized room, big lockers, ensuite bathroom. Free breakfast, Friendly staff, Alcohol allowed. Good common room, Free computer use.

Disliked: Air con in room very noisey, Location not great, train ride needed to get to main sights and city nightlife. No checking system for left luggage, anyone can walk off with your bag.
