I felt that the extra things like the free breakfast and free pre-marathon pasta meal were very generous. Staff always tried to accomodate any changes to my plans etc.

The hostel had a great central location, and offered many activities for its guests. It was in a safe area, near several universities, and offered several methods for securing personal belongings.

Good common area, Kitchen is great. Expensive in terms of hostels myself and a friend have stayed in throughout the US but Chicago is an expensive city. Bedrooms and bathrooms clean and modern. 8/10 overall, D & J.

The rooms. They are old university dorms converted into a hostel. There's 2 bedrooms with 2 bunk beds in each room. These 2 rooms share a living room and bathroom. Not bad for a hostel!
Location is really good too andf the buildings kind of cool.

Room was spacious, as was the whole building. Loved the breakfast room with the L-trains coming past the windows, and I loved the big lobby on the first floor. Great to have (free to use) big lockers in the room, and great to be able to leave your luggage for free on day of departure. Some staff members could be more friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic. Loved the muffins at breakfast! It would be great if every one would have their own knife at breakfast, and if butter and jam would be provided in one-person packs rather than in big bowls for everyone to use, even though that's not very environmentally friendly. Overall, I was pretty happy with my stay.
