Liked: It delivers exactly what it offers. The building is old, and not state-of-the-art but presents travelers with a decent bed and clean showers and toilets. Sure there are cracks in the floors and the walls, but they do not affect your stay in any way.

Liked: Jill was exceptionally friendly with my check in.

Disliked: When it rained on the second day of my stay, there was a lead in the bathroom on the third floor near the skylight coming down on the floor.

Liked: Decent bathroom facilities, spacious room with okay bed.

Disliked: Pillows were not hefty enough. Chosen due to close proximity to Harvard, but no direct train lines in between make it a little difficult to travel back and forth.

Liked: I am really disappointed. I only took this hostel because there was nothing else available in Boston. This is just rip-off. On the website there is shown that there is a certain amount due to pay upon arrival and all of a sudden local taxes are added to this amount

Disliked: - bathroom - smell in the whole house - price quality is just really really poor

Liked: Friendly staff. And good directions to hostel.

Disliked: It's really old, and a awful smell in the bedroom. The bathroom was old, the shower was grosse the doors Would hardly close. The towel they gave me had stains on it. I just didn't feel comfortable.

Liked: There were no curtains in the room, so it was pretty light in the morning, and the bed was loud. But the hostel was oke, the room was big and nice.

Disliked: The fact that there were no cutains and that the bed made noise every time we moved.

Liked: The bathroom was nice. My room was on a back street so not much traffic. They let me book the day before I stayed there, so flexibility is good.

Disliked: The back street has a bit of a sketchy feel about it, but I didn't see anything happen, I just didn't go out after dark. Seemed a bit expensive ($50/night) for a shared room.

Liked: You have wifi reception everywhere

Disliked: It's definitely a budget hostel but this goes beyond that. For the price you're paying you expect that the floortiles in the bathrooms aren't broken (slippery and unsanitary when you step from the shower), the doorknobs aren't loose and your room isn't full of unnecessary stuff (why is there a fridge in the dormroom?).

Liked: This property has loads of character and the staff are amazingly helpful. Why this place has a relatively low percentage marking I will never know. Loads more character than the faceless and sterile YHA places.s

Liked: The buildings are rather nice, old and characterful. Could be a pleasant setting in different circumstances. Great balconies, as well.

Disliked: Dark, dank and very weird. The corridors felt like the setting of a horror movie. My room door wouldn't stay closed, let alone locked. No air conditioning in 90F temperatures. No toilet roll anywhere, for some reason. Weird customer service: no reception as such, you have to ring them from outside the house and then wait by yourself in a creepy little parlour. Someone eventually comes down the stairs, none too willingly, and deals with you. Truly, truly bizarre. It's not even cheap, either.

Liked: It had walls and a roof. Unfortunately there are not many hostel options in Boston though, so you don't have many other choices.

Disliked: This wasn't a hostel but rather a 'go-between' place for long-termers. The guy who was sharing our room was living there and his booze bottles and dirty clothes were strewn across the room. The bathrooms were filthy and when we were there, there was no hot water or toilet paper. There are no lockers either, and doors have very poor locks, so anyone can come in and steal your stuff.

Liked: It is affordable and the staff were very nice.

Disliked: It is pretty dusty with carpetted floors so people with allergies beware! be prepared to climb flights of stairs with your luggage. many parties going around the neighbourhood at night and it can be noisy the street is dimly light at night.
