Liked: Nothing but the price - which only adds to the truthiness of you get what you pay for but then again I stayed at another hostel in Chicago for the same price and that one was well-run, clean and safely-secured (case in point, Ive never stayed at a hostel like this one that didn't offer any personal lockers for use by those renting a space within the hostel and Ive stayed at a lot of hostels over the years! it was very annoying to have to feel so ill-at ease with the general environs and other occupants that one had to take most of their personal items with them when leaving the hostel for the day!)

Disliked: Too little cleaning going on, very lax service at the front office end and worse food outlay - nothing but cheap, unhealthy food: bleached, chemically loaded white Wonderbread, vegetable oil mix that passes itself off as peanut butter (e.g. Jiffy) and multiples of cheap kid-style cereals (grocery store versions of Lucky Charms. Cornflakes, etc) along with powdered milk. A Coffee pot that looks like it was lasted cleaned about 5 yrs ago. Only decent food offered were eggs. Granted its a low price that they charge for the stay but the hostels in large cities that Ive stayed at, where the overhead must be far higher than that of ABQ, lay out a better spread at the same price so what gives?

Liked: Only 10 blocks to transport center, bus stop just in front, supermarket few blocks away, few steps away from downtown, one block from laundry, few blocks from Old Town, easiness to get points of interest, free breakfast items, a computer, many books, two general restrooms and one for ladies.

Disliked: Very noisy wooden floors in bedrooms.

Liked: Very close to bars. They provided more breakfast options than most hostels.

Disliked: There seems to be a lot of bugs in the kitchen and in the bathrooms, in which they would crawl into your bag and clothes. Place isn't cleaned everyday, kitchen rag smelt so bad you could smell it from a mile away. Wouldn't cook a meal in the kitchen. Also, there was a lack of kitchen supples like plates and cutlery. There's no tv , radio or daily newspapers. The 'common room' is super small, with very uncomfortable furniture which needs to be updated ASAP! There is a lot of long term rentals which are mainly occupied with much older people. Not a very social place for anyone younger than 30.The bunk beds don't have ladders or rails for the top bunk, not very safe. People preferred to sleep on couches in the rooms rather than the actual beds. Not a very social hostel, they seem to have a lot of staff that don't work and the hostel doesn't organize events or anything to do.

Liked: The property has some beautiful murals. The front and side porches are very relaxing. Tour of hostel was clear and people present were introduced.

Disliked: There are so many people that the kitchen gets crowded, but everyone is polite and shares well. What was expected was noted clearly on large cards in the coffee area. Small detail was the rag holder kept coming out of the wall in the kitchen.

Liked: This hostel was in a good location near lots of bars and the rooms were clean. The man who owns the hostel is very friendly and incredibly helpful, he had lots of advice on places to visit.

Disliked: The toilet in the female dorm was separate from the sink which was strange

Liked: Close to Greyhound and Amtrak. Also walking distance to Old Town and Downtown's bars. Quiet place with breakfast and good wifi. Alone in a dorm for 3 nights. Good facilities.

Disliked: Staff member who checked me in didn't even show me the room. He said nothing about the breakfast or facilities. Other guys were showing new guests around.
