Liked: Very laid back nature, quite communal.

Disliked: Bugs! Being in the busy there were lots of flies on the food and critters at night. Unfortunately it rained the entire three days we were there which left us confined to our rooms, not much fun. The bar outside was wet.

Liked: Almost nothing!

Disliked: Very dirty, with spiderwebs all around. No lockers. Location difficult to find (no signs; some 10 min walk from main road on a dirt street). Long after booking and 1 month before stay, we were informed by the owner that the price was "incorrect on HostelBookers", so they charged us extra 20 dollars per bed per night, on a "take it or leave it" basis!!! Wouldn't recommend it!

Liked: the owner was very friendly and helpful, made us feel at home. basic but clean rooms. a bit far from punta del este (20 minutes by bus) but close to another beach and supermarkets. surfboards available.

Liked: Celair the owner was an absolute champion. He was so very helpful and went out of his way. A very nice and friendly bloke.

Disliked: It was a little difficult to find.

Liked: This place is one of the best hostels myself and my partner have stayed in, it certainly lives up to previous reviews, Celiar is a legend, always eager to help out and make sure you feel right at home, the hostel has a complete bohemian vibe, great place to meet people and relax, most that came to the hostel extended their stay there, including us. There is also good wifi and internet access. This hostel ticked every box for us, by far my top hostel after 3 months of travelling south america.

Liked: This place is paradise. Celiar, Marco, Peco and Pelatin (the dog). Plus all your lovely girlfriends. You are all legends. You made me welcome. You helped me with my Spanish and Marco you cook a great BBQ. I loved every minute of my stay, God speed and good luck building more houses this Winter

Liked: El Hostalito is small but perfectly formed - really excellent value for money with amazing staff who make you feel like part of the family. Rooms are pretty tight and basic and it would feel very crowded if every bed was taken, but out of the high season it´s lovely.

Liked: this hostel is really unique. i loved the hippy style, the volleyball area and chilled out feel of the whole place. staff are so helpful, very personal service. would definately recommend to others and hope to return one day

Liked: Put it to you this way - booked 3 nights, ended up staying 7 nights.The owner, Celiar and his friends were some of the most accommodating people who went out of their way to make us feel at home. Super fun hostel with a great beach and perfect waves for surfing. We would go back to Uruguay just to see Celiar and Pelutin (his little black dog) again!

Liked: Came to Uruguay on the spur of the moment decision in the middle of a year long trip and it was one of the best decisions I made... Mainly because of this hostel. Not only was the atmosphere perfect for a chillout, the owners couldn't have been more generous, accommodating and friendly if they tried. Enjoyed my stay here enough to make this comment (which is a first!).

Liked: For some reason my sunday rate went up to 17 Euro a night ! This place is basic and never worth that money. Its rustic Uruguayan and had charm for about 3 hours of my 2 day stay, but in the end i felt ripped off. No wonder he offered to make me tea early before I left, he had just billed me 1500 pesos ! El Vajero hostel next door had a pool and looked good to me............

Liked: Great place to stay with nice private rooms. The owners are really friendly and willing to help you out with anything you need. Only drawback is the kitchen is quite small and a litlle understocked.

Liked: We enjoyed our stay, the two guys who ran the place bent over backwards to help us in our stay. It's located outside the concrete jungle of the center on a regular bus line, so it's easy to travel back and forth. Its got plenty of nice restaurants and a supermarket close at hand as well as a really cool party beach and a reasonably empty beach also. The facilities at the hostel are a little bit rustic but if your don't mind roughing it a little then it's a great place to stay.

Liked: The staff at the hostel are a great group of guys. They even cooked us dinner one night and we hung out while it was raininng, passing the time playing cards or dice. It is a good place for laid back, easy giong travellers, who don't want to be in Punta exactly, but off to the side.

Liked: Very friendly and laidback staff. It's a bit out of town but perfect if you just want a relaxing break. About 20 min walk to the beach. A bit hard to find the place since there's no street names, ask for directions at Manantiales Hostel if you get lost.
