About Montevideo Chic Hostel

The Property is a piece of Montevideo's history, full of colonial charm and period features. It was built in 1890 by the Country's premier furniture producer, Caviglia Brothers, with grand spaces and decoration: a setting to exhibit their exquisite furniture. 120 years later, it has been fully refurbished to comply with modern standards for accommodation, but still retaining its original features and atmosphere.

Why "Chic"? Well, this is not just any hostel - it's chic. But it's also a reference to the building's past: CHIC was the acronym that the Caviglia Brothers put on their furniture (Caviglia Hermanos Importadores y Carpinteros)!
