Liked: Good beds and large dorms. Very nice common area .Peaceful atmosphere. Friendly staff. Weak point is bathrooms, they have only two.As a whole I enjoyed very much my stay tin Boulevard Sarandi.

Liked: Wonderful staff, nice clean beds, and great location for seeing historic Montevideo. Despite its imperfections, I would stay here again. Guess I'll mention what could use improvement. The breakfast was pretty minimal, and much of the table got cleaned out by the guests without getting replaced even though more people were still coming in to eat. But to their credit, the friendly staff would make efforts to bring out more of specific items if asked. Another issue was "when" the breakfast was to occur. We were told that it is in a fairly narrow window, starting at a very early time. Having been too late and missing it the first morning, we were counting on nailing it at the perfect time just before leaving to catch our bus the next morning. However, due to there being fewer guests that night and none of them waking up early, the staff apparently decided not to bother putting anything out at the usual time. Which for us meant we get no breakfast, even though it was well after the time it was said to normally begin at. But again, to their credit, they did start bringing bits out once they saw that we were out and about. Unfortunately we didn't have time to wait so we pretty much missed it.Other drawbacks are:- Only two small bathrooms from what we could see, which would not really be enough if the place were full. Fine for us since it wasn't busy at the time.- no shelf for bar soap in the shower (a lot of hostels miss this...)- toilet seat that doesn't like to stay up (female management of course :)- The "lockers" are fairly small drawers that are part of the bunk beds. They aren't very secure since the part the lock attaches to could be pretty easily pulled out/unscrewed. Also the bottom of the locked drawer slides off really easily allowing access to what's in the drawer, but that's probably not easy to do unless you have it unlocked and can pull the drawer out a little to begin with.This hostel seems pretty new so I imagine that over the next few months they'll smooth out most of the little things I mentioned. Overall, it's a pretty classy place with a wonderful family of locals managing the place.
