Boulevard Sarandi Hostel

This is a family enterprise, we love to travel; and we know what travellers need and like when they are away from home, so we have put the best of us so you too can feel at home.

Boulevard Sarandi hostel is located in the heart of Ciudad Vieja, the historic quarter of Montevideo, an area which has been declared of national interest in Uruguay, with restaurants, pubs, shops, theatres, museums and many other places of interest.

This light and spacious former home was built in 1826 and has been extensively remodelled, with a huge and comfortable common area, with hardwood floors, open brickwork and the presence of antique and typical objects that can normally be found in museums.

There are balconies onto the pedestrian Sarandí street from where you can see the sea on both sides, which makes this hostel a magical place.

The hostel provides all of this in a safe enviroment and with 21st century comforts such as heating and air conditioning in every room, television with cable TV, PC with Wi-Fi available, all day hot water and full kitchen facilities, with breakfast included.

Our Uruguayan criollo and rustuc style of decoration makes for a very warm and comfortable enviroment, which combined with the good vibrations and disposition of the people who work here will ensure a wonderful stay and a reluctance to leave.

Accommodation Information

This modernised old house, maintains the primitive architecture of its time, with wide rooms and high ceilings, now with modern technology, having all rooms air conditioned, being very comfortable. All rooms also have a balcony from where you can see the sea, while the whole hostel is decorated with the classic gaucho style.

Location Information

Boulevard Sarandí is located on Sarandí Pedestrian Street, in the "Old City" of Montevideo.
We are 50 metres from Plaza Independencia and Downtown, 5 minutes walk from Montevideo's Harbor and Mercado del Puerto (Harbor market), and 15 minutes bus from 3 Cruces Bus Station and there are bus stops 10 metres from our Hostel.

Our great transport connectins make all Montevideo's attractions easily accesible. Including Rambla and 10 different beaches, Centenario Stadium, Palacio Legislativo, Cerro de Montevideo, Prado, Pocitos, Fair Markets (Parque Rodo, Tristán Narvaja).

If you like shopping you can find on Sarandí Street and 18 de Julio St. (The main street of Montevideo, 60 metres from our hostel) the biggest variety of shops, galleries and uruguayan typical craft shops. Also the main Malls are only a short bus journey away.

There are number of pubs and restaurants nearby. Ciudad Vieja (Old City) is the centre of nightlife and cuisine.
Pubs and clubs worth visiting include Pony Pisador, The Shannon's, La City, W Lounge, Viejo Mitre among others.
The list of restaurantes includes Don Peperonne's, La Pasiva, El Chivito de Oro, Los Leños, Matriz to enjoy excellent Uruguayan meat like "asados" and "chivitos".
