Liked: Planet hostel staff could not have been more helpful and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Disliked: The problem is the building does not really lend itself to being a good place to stay due to the noise of traffic going all night..i.e trucks, motorbiles and buses roaring all night. Sleep is almost impossible and the rooms are hot and airless unless you open the doors and then you get the noise worse. Breakfast is a bit ordinary with ho hum selection and the timing from 9am is too late for people wanting to be out and about to see Montivideo. The hostel had a grubby feel about it even though the rooms were clean and the showers and toilets being in the one room with no way to stop the water from going all over the floor was ordinary. The cost of the hostel was cheap but couldn't get a good nights sleep on any of the nights. Would not recommend it.

Liked: The location is perfect and everyone from the staff is very helpfull.

Liked: It is located not far from Avenue 18 de Julio which is the main drag, and is between the disappointing Old town and Centro. It is also only a short walk to the Rambla and the sea. The staff are great. And so are the guests!

Disliked: Well I suppose the coffee at breakfast could have been a bit nicer.

Liked: Not much to say about this hostel, but we were also there at a very quiet time (post-Carnaval). The receptionist Beatriz was very friendly and nice, but there was a cleaner there who was quite unfriendly to us, and kept telling us to clean our dishes and mop the bathroom floor (even though we were already doing it anyway!!). The breakfast is pretty basic (watered down coffee, tea, stale bread, dulce de leche, apples) but the AC was nice and it's in a decent location. Pretty noisy at night though (on a main street) so make sure you have ear plugs!

Disliked: Just the unfriendliness of that cleaner...otherwise it was fine.

Liked: Very nice location. The property was ok, restrooms where clean and breakfasts abundant.

Disliked: I thought I was having a mosquito problem, but turned out to be fleas on my bed. Not all staff knew about touristic locations and stuff.

Liked: Good location. Fruits for breakfast. The guy at the reception knows Montevideo and how to get to places.

Disliked: The kitchens could be better. They´re ok, but there´s so much better around in Uruguay. Wi-Fi was a little bit bumpy. But all this is complaining on a high level

Liked: Rooms were spacious, lounge and kitchen areas were quite cool (although kitchen isn't very big), close to Plaza Independencia, whilst location isn't amazing in terms of the street or area itself, many places of interest are within 30 minutes of walking.

Disliked: Lockers were really flimsy. Most of them weren't on the hinges properly, and anyone could have easily broken the door off. Bathrooms are a bit small. A little bit noisy at night but not too bad.

Liked: Great colours and atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location.

Disliked: The quiet after 1 a.m. rule wasn't always enforced.

Liked: The location is central, not far from the old town. The hostel is adequate for a night or two, but it's very basic and there's not really much atmosphere. The staff were helpful.

Disliked: The private rooms just have a padlock on a catch, so it's not very secure. Also there's a problem with vacant room doors constanting slamming shut because of draughts, which happened every night, so it's not easy to sleep. The breakfast room is too small but in any case it's not worth having.

Liked: Leaving.

Disliked: Crowded, too small, dirty and has a laughable sign that declares a curfew at 1am. No one seems to have told the staff that, who were still blaring out dreadful music at 2am most nights.

Liked: Location was good - it's a nice area of Montevideo, not far from city centre and bar area.

Disliked: This was by far the noisiest hostel I have ever been in. Parties went on until 5am, despite warnings about no noise after 1am. If you want to sleep (at all), go elsewhere. It was ridiculous. We didn't get the room we requested until night 3. We were moved to different rooms on nights 1 and 2 despite booking ages ago.

Liked: Bright and cheerful hostel! All bases covered - how a hostel should be. Adequate kitchen, loungeroom, bathrooms, space.

Disliked: Mattress' need replacing, could feel the slats.
