Liked: i caught an offering on hostelbookers so i´ve paid not a lot of money. the hostel is at plaza independencia, which is in cuidad viaje and nice. breakfast was good. fruits, cereals, bread, jam, butter, coffee

Disliked: it was one of this big, unpersonal hostel-chain hostels. if you like it loud all day long, then go for it. im not a person who is hard to satisfie, but i have to say this hostel was the worst ive staid in. the atmosphere was just not good. there was no place where you could just chill out and have a good time. it was fucking loud all day long, worst music ever in full volume. it was also very very hot, no air con, no window. the stuff seemed like they don´t care about anything. i hate to be that negative, but really it was annoying!

Liked: The breakfast was nice And the location was great.

Disliked: The staff weren't very organised when it came to booking us in - they didn't have beds for our friends and I was separated from my friends even though we had booked in advance. There was also no air conditioning and only the odd fan which did nothing.

Liked: Well, you get what you pay for, not a great value for money. The toilets should be cleaned more often (the rota in the toilet says they finish at around 6pm), being a shared bathroom there's a lot of people to mess it up. I booked a private room with 2 beds but it only had that, 2 beds, no aircon or fan, no window (a really tiny one to the corridor), no other furniture, not even a shelf to put something on. Only one plug that we used when staff gave us a stand up fan. The location is unbeatable, tough, right in the heart of the old city with great connections to buses to other beaches (Pocitos, Buceo, Malvin) and the bus terminal.

Disliked: The bathroom should be cleaned more often, more facilities should be in place in the room.

Liked: First day receptionist was friendly

Disliked: the other receptionists were not helpful and did not seem to like to want to help with queries etc. Comouters are very slow and there is a small boy running along who presses the sleep button on the computers and this happened in the middle of me trying to get a booking done on a very slow computer.

Liked: location

Disliked: the bathrooms, the keys were really hard to use.. the building was really old.. seemed like it was falling apart.. nothing was in the right spot in the kitchen.. all the plates and knives in forks were near reception and not in the kitchen.. didn't make sense...

Liked: Location good right on the Plaza de independica

Disliked: Staff quite unhelpful, only offered advice when asked specifically. Rooms were very cold and badly maintained. Kitchen was dirty and lack of utensils. Serious lack of bathrooms and they were dirty too.

Liked: it was just of the main plaza and between the old and new part of the city. Helpful and frienndly staff and good breakfast. Beds were cosy.

Disliked: Only on computer -no advertised time limit- a tough one if you cant use wifi.

Liked: It's really good place to meet people, and also have area for studying, reading or doing what else.

Disliked: I think all kitchen or bath cleanliness problems are the same for dorm rooms or shared room which is acceptable.

Disliked: As with most hostels in Uruguay they try and stitch you with a bad exchange rate when you pay with pesos. Pay with US dollars if you can.

Liked: Cheap in comparison to other hostels in the area.

Disliked: The kitchen was dirty and not well stocked. Had to ask for plates, cutlery etc every time because the staff keeps them behind the bar. They lost our booking twice. Were overbooked so people were sleeping in the tv room making it unavailable to the other guests. Some of the staff were very unhelpful and almost rude at times. Only one plug in the room so you couldn't charge anything unless you unplugged the fan which made the room hot within minutes.

Disliked: We stayed in a private room, and it barely fit two twin beds in it. The staff was not very helpful, and the hostel itself is not very clean. On the other hand, there were no bugs, and the location was great (very safe) so we were fine with it

Liked: Location

Disliked: The bathrooms were very dirty, often there was no toiletpaper and there were not enough bathrooms for everyone in this rather big hostel, so you have to wait often. There was music pounding in the common area all day, very loud, which made it very hard to talk with each other when you were in that area, what's the point of this loud music? I don't see it. The kitchen was useless, they only had a few plates, a wobbling stove and know mugs. It looks like they wanted to dicourage you to cook your own meal, so you would participate in the meals they make each nigt (which were expensive!). No value for your money!

Liked: pefext location but the kitchen is crowed and the kitchen is useless.the kindeness of the staff depends on the time.beds are clean but thats it. it is one of the cheapest places to stay in montevideo and has a perfect location but the best is you dont stay a long time.

Disliked: location and price was good.
