Sur Hostel

We are Nacho and Martin, two friends who met while travelling around Ireland in 2006. When we returned home to Uruguay, we decided to open a hostel that would offer world travellers all the comforts of home.

After two years of meeting extraordinary people and sharing unforgettable moments at Pocitos Hostel in Montevideo - a gratifying experience for us both - we decided to expand our business and open a new hostel in the charming city of Colonia del Sacramento. And so
Sur Hostel was born.

Colonia is a quaint and beautiful city, rich in cultural heritage, where one can enjoy a walk down the cobble-stoned streets of the old district, climb to the top of the lighthouse to admire the panoramic views, ride a bike to the historic Plaza de Toros or simply take a relaxing dip at one of the lovely local beaches.

The natural beauty of Colonia makes it an ideal location for our hostel. We have specially selected our staff to maintain the friendly hospitality that we are best known for and they will always be there to accommodate your needs. Between the delightful ambience and the dedication of our incredible staff, your visit to Colonia is sure to be a magical experience.

After an exhausting search, we found the perfect refurbished home, complete with ample, well-lit rooms, a cosy common space with a fireplace and a spacious terrace with a typical Uruguayan grill for barbequing.
