Location Information

The Turkish name for our location is Beyoglu, and there are many speculations about the origins of the word. The most common is that while Emperor Kanuni Sultan Süleyman ruled the Ottoman Empire Turks named this area as Beyoğlu because Venice consulate Andre Gritti’s son Luigi Giritti resided in this area, and Beyoglu means a gentleman’s son.

Beyoğlu has characteristic of many civilizations and this can be seen in its historical buildings, mosques, churches, synagogues, bell tower and sounds of Azan.
