Liked: The staff especially Cancan is very helpful and pleasant. My stay was very relaxing and the hostel is very well located. I had a great stay.

Liked: Service was friendly and breakfast was reasonably good, including hard boiled eggs and apple tea. The bathrooms were clean with good water pressure and consistent hot water. The hostel was in a good position close to the main sights in Istanbul. The hostel took people out in a group to sample the Istanbul nightlife on most nights. Free wifi worked well.The dorm rooms looked good, though we stayed in a private room.

Disliked: Our private room was small and hot given that it cost the same as the budget hotel rooms in the area, which offered air conditioning. We chose to stay at the hostel to meet other travellers but next time may choose a budget hotel.

Liked: It is clean, safe, and a good location for walking, traming or boating to any part of Istanbul. Biggest charm of the place is the staff - everyone was so warm, welcoming, and helpful that we wound up returning for a second stay later in the month. An example - our arrival day was my birthday, and so the staff went out and got an exquisite banana cake for me! One of a kind hostel without a doubt.

Disliked: As with almost everything in Istanbul, it was a little pricey, but that probably had more to do with us coming from the Middle East and having different expectations.

Liked: The location and price of the Second Home Hostel is hard to beat and definitely is worth it if you are only staying in Istanbul for a few days.

Disliked: Many of the reviews said that there was a free airport shuttle, but this in fact did not exist and as it was one of the main reasons we chose the hostel that was disappointing. Also, the staff said it would take us over two hours to get to Istanbul--SAB via public transit but in fact it took an hour using the ferry and e10 bus.

Liked: Perfect hostel. The room was very clean and comfortable. Included breaktfast and tea was delicious. It's a great place to meet new people, relax, enjoy Istanbul and have fun. The staff is incredible! Definitely the most helpful staff at any hostel I've ever stayed at. They really take care about their guests and know their job very well! It never felt loud in the rooms but there was always something fun going on. Comfortable as at home and you can meet people from around the world and have lots of fun! Fantastic hostel at low cost! Will recommend it to all my friends and stay again!

Liked: I stayed in the dorms the first two nights. They were very humid but had good locking drawers and included the very small (by turkish standards) breakfast. After that I had a double with my gf and the room was small but well made and got very hot. A fan was available upon request but I don't think that'a always so. The laundry and drinks were too expensive and the internet had bad reception and was slow.. The location was good though, and close to a tram stop. Also, I liked the guys working there. Overall, a pretty good place.

Liked: A great surprise after a last minute booking, fantastic location for seeing the Old Town attractions.Great penthouse for chilling out in - very sunny, good views - and unusually good free breakfast by hostel standards.The staff could not have been more helpful and spoke excellent English. All in all a real gem of a hostel!

Liked: This is a very good hostel in fact one of the best I have stayed at (and I've stayed at quite a few over the years). The location is superb for sight seeing and there are plenty of local bars and eateries close by. We were two couples and got moved to the new hostel block that had just been renovated. The rooms were more like a 3 star hotel and were incredibly spacious and well furnished. The guys in charge were incredibly helpful and I would definitely recommend a stay.

Liked: The location is excellent for getting around istanbul and reaching all the main sights - we barely had to use pubic transport in our 3 days in istanbul. The owners are full of good advice for getting the most out of your stay. We are returning to Istanbul on our way home and we are staying there again.

Liked: Staff are incredibly friendly and will go out of their way to help you make the most of your time in Istanbul. Fantastic location just a few minutes' walk from the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya etc. I cannot praise Second Home Hostel highly enough.
