Liked: best is location i coundnt find closer. staffs are extreamly helpful and friendly. i just feel like here is the second home its named.

Disliked: its quit cold in the morning but the fan i couldnt make it lower as its fixed only on and off

Liked: Second Home hostel is really international hostel. I really liked the atmosphere of a friendly freedom. I spent my birthday in Turkey, staying in this hostel. It was very nice to receive greetings from the guys working in the hostel. but still there was a greeting in German song from the boys from Dresden. and of course the roof! there is a beautiful view of Istanbul)

Liked: the hospitality is a stamp, istambul is a very elegant city and the hostel is perfect. very good localizated! thanks for the history classes with my little friend. everybody should see the arquealogical museum of istanbul is one of the greatest of the world! loves konstantinopla!

Liked: I liked everything, except the fact that they write receipts on not official pieces of paper! Btw the staff is quite nice, the atmosphere is typical, they have a really nice terrace and I really liked their newly opened SecondHome Kitchen.

Liked: It is very centrally located, between Sultanahmet and Emononu and close to a tram stop. it is very clean and new.

Disliked: the 4-beds dormitory was rather small.

Liked: The following review is based on my stay here for 9 nights. I was on the 4th floor the first night and the all female dorm on the 1st floor thereafter. - Amazing staff, very friendly, extremely helpful, very courteous. - I never saw a dirty bathroom. The shower area was always clean and the bathroom always clean. There was always extra toilet paper. Never saw any trash on the floor or in the bathroom. The soap dispenser was always full. - The bathroom and shower room had a window for fresh air. - The sheets of beds in the room are changed for new guests. They are very clean and washed. - The laundry service is provided at a great price. ~7 Euro for washing, drying, and folding. There is no time limit, you can even give it to them at midnight and have it done 7-8 hours later. - The minute I arrived into the hostel, the receptionist (Murat) was friendly and helped me take my luggage up the stairs. - All of the receptionists speak English well. - The hostel has excellent connections with local properties. I went to the Turkish hamam and the receptionist (Mehmet) reserved everything for me. - The location was key. Perfect location. It was a 50 meter (150 feet) walk away from the Tram, so I took the Tram everywhere. You can also walk for 5 minutes to reach Topkapi. In 10 minutes you can reach the Sultanahmet district.

Disliked: Nothing. The best hostel I've ever stayed at.

Liked: A really social place with a great location in Sultanahmet. One block to the supermarket, two blocks to the tram, dozens of restaurants within a 3 block radius and a short walk to the ferry. The rooftop terrace was a party every night, and the entire hostel is well maintained and clean, with plenty of baths and showers. The hostel has a restaurant 2 blocks away that I ate at several times and highly recommend.

Disliked: Price is about 10% higher than other places I've stayed. The wi-fi on the roof only seemed to work 50% of the time. The large dorm is downstairs, with only one tiny window for ventilation, and was fine at night but a little musty during the day.

Liked: This is a nice hostel. The location of this hostel really can't be beat. It was clean enough in general, though the number of ants was definitely non-zero. The rooms are small, but we were completely happy with that. The bathroom/shower to person ratio is good - I only had to wait once in three days. Staff was friendly, breakfast was fine, the rooftop patio was nice. The Dia grocery store just down the block is AWESOME since it charged non-tourist-inflated prices for water, toothpaste, shampoo and all those other liquids you couldn't take on the plane with you.

Disliked: Ants. They're not the big juicy scary ones, just the tiny little sugar ants. But be prepared to defend your territory against them. We put our snack food in a plastic grocery bag and hung it from a hanger - like camping in bear country.

Liked: Possibly the friendliest hostel I've ever stayed at! The staff all make the effort to learn your name, and are incredibly helpful with everything. You could not ask for a better location, an easy walk from the Hagia Sofia and other main sites.

Disliked: It can be difficult to sleep with all of the street noise from outside. However, that's the downside to having such a perfect location. A quieter place would probably be much farther away from the center of things.

Liked: Stayed in a double room, which was perfect. Roof terrace is great, staff very friendly. Super location.

Disliked: We did not get a receit (and also forgot to ask for it...) and in the end staff was not sure if we did pay. So: ask for a receit and then everything is alright.

Liked: This place was great, easy to find and welcoming people as soon as we walked through the door! We had a long travel to get to this place and arrived 10am and thought we would have to wait till 2 to get into our room. only took 20minutes before they got us straight in! You never feel uncomfortable at this hostel, they make a conscious effort to get to know you and they make sure you meet everyone in the hostel and make friends. The rooms were spacious and clean. they also had a wicked open roof top which was a great opportunity to meet people and have fun! We had friends meet us in Istanbul and they were more than happy to give them a room at such short notice, and later that evening they joined in with us partying on the roof. Great hostel, great people would recommend this massively! we will definitely be visiting again!!

Liked: One member of the staff of was friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The cover of the ceiling fan fall off and nearly hit my head as soon as I turned it on after entering my room!! Even worse, the hostel people were not at all apologetic about it!!

Liked: Great value for money and fantastic location - walking distance from all the sites and really great restaurants. The staff are lovely and always happy to help and breakfast was great!!

Disliked: Airconditioning didn't really work so being Summer this was a little difficult, but nothing to really counter the benefits of SecondHome.

Liked: I liked pretty much everything about this place, it's my favourite hostel I stayed at so far. The staff are all really friendly and take you out at night and cook you good food and generally make you feel at home. The location is close to all the major tourist sights, and the staff will take you out into the Taksim area for partying at night. The free turkish breakfasts each morning are great. Free internet was available. They have a sweet rooftop area which was great for relaxing and playing backgammon and smoking water pipe, or just drinking. We had a great night just getting drunk and playing cards there with all the staff. The place is really social and it's a great place to meet people. Overall, this is a superb hostel and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Disliked: The dorm room that I stayed at was pretty basic and is nothing fancy, and there was a bit of mould on the shower ceiling, but honestly you'll be having too much fun at this place to care. Also, it's not the most secure place, since there were no lockers and no room key, but it's a fairly small hostel and I never felt at risk of getting something stolen.

Liked: The staff were amazing. Very social and fun. The terrace up top with a little bit of hookah is the perfect way to end an amazing day in Istanbul.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Good vibe and easy to meet others. Their new terrace was great to smoke shisha and play backgammon. The location was also ideal.
