Liked: The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They helped us decide our itenary for the days we had there and had very open discussions about the culture, customs and religions of Istanbul. Our room was small, but we were told that when we booked it. It was clean and the bed comfortable. The food was very good and there was alot of it.

Liked: This was a highlight of our whole trip. Marmara has a fantastic Turkish atmosphere, great rooftop area, fabulous staff who couldn't do enough to help make our stay great, ideal position, interesting decor, excellent Turkish breakfast- A must if you go to Istanbul

Liked: The family that runs the guesthouse are fantastic. Very helpful and genuinely sincere. We could not have asked for better host. Also, the location is perfect. Very close to restaurants, shops, the blue mosque as well as an easy 10-15 minute walk to the grand bazaar.

Liked: Absolutely first class. Staying here added a great deal to our enjoyment of Istanbul.The Ateykin family who run the guesthouse recommended some excellent restaurants which we would never have found otherwise. They were extremely friendly and always willing to help us with our travel plans.If price is important to you, the Marmara guesthouse offers the best deal in town. Spotlessly clean with fresh towels daily. Air conditioning/central heating, a good sized bathroom and a delicious breakfast. We also spent many happy hours on the roof terrace overlooking the Marmara Sea Highly recommended!

Liked: We liked everything there and it is the place we prefered in our whole trip! The hostel is run by a Turkish family and they are extremely friendly, sweet and helpful! If you stay in a double bed room with shared bathroom try to ask for the bigger rooms, (some are a bit small for 2 people)

Liked: Spotlessly clean. Excellent location. Roof terrace extremely pleasant, vines trailing across it, and stunning views of the Bosphorus. Bed linen crisp, spotless and white. Location unparalleled for seeing sights of central Istanbul. Nice and quiet at night.

Liked: The staff and owners where most helpful. gave us free transportation to all the nearby sites . The Hostel was so original Turkish that our 2 grandchildren, 10 and 16 where delighted with the roofgarden and everything they offered.

Liked: The family that runs the hostel is extremly friendly and welcoming. They have a lovely terrace on the roof where you can enjoy a lovely turkish breakfast in the sun overlooking the sea. The roooms where very need and at the atmosphere was great.

Liked: The family who run the Marmara are all working together to ensure everyone has a comfortable and enjoyable stay, they were so kind , the Marmara was exteremely clean and the breakfast was fab; they even had homemade jam ! I plan to visit istanbul again and would happily stay there again.

Liked: It is ran by a local turkish family. The cleanliness could not be faulted. The price is decieving, I expected something much more basic, and to include breakfast....amazing on the terrace overlooking the Marmara sea traditional turkish breakfast mmmm! The atmosphere is what you would expect whilst staying with a typical Turkish family. If you want lively and noisy you will not like this place, but if you want warm and clean and friendly then you must stay here. It is so close to Haghia Sophia, Blue Mosque, The Basilican Cistern, the tramvay that links you to Aksaray Metro, all of the lovely bars and restaurants in Sultanahmet are a 5 minute walk. Visit Masal resataurant for good food and a nice atmosphere and Sah bar for dancing and a drink. If you are very adventurous and want traditional Turkish food visit Urfalim in Sirkeci or Urfali in Aksaray. Both serve excellent food and so cheap you wouldn't believe. My husband and I will definately stay at Marmara Guest House next time we visit Istanbul.
