Liked: Nice location only 5 minute walk from tram stop. Filling breakfast.

Disliked: Lights are too dim (in private room) - wouldn't be able to read, nor have enough light in the bathroom.

Liked: The staff was helpful and the rooms were cheap.

Disliked: It was extremely cold and there was a leak in the large dorm room. The entire room was covered with water, 3 beds got soaked through, and everyone staying there got sick. The staff would not give us more blankets and it was freezing and wet. The bathrooms are also very dirty. It is probably the dirtiest hostel I've been in.

Liked: Great location. Good rooftop breakfast and hot showers. Umbrellas on a rainy day.

Disliked: Not quite up to the level of Topkaki Palace but then those were different times.

Liked: The locatıon is fantastıc. Just minutes away from the major tourıst attractıons. It ıs quıet and it was good to have beakfast ıncluded in the prıce. It was also nice to have the communal roof terrace to use ın the day to get away from the heat and bustle. We also liked the service of free safe-boxes to keep our valuables in.

Disliked: İt was very misleadıng that on our booking printout the price was shown ın pounds and euros. We translated the price into TL from pounds but the actual price was calculated from euros by the hostel staff. Because of the different exchange rates this meant that the price was more than we expected. The price should not be shown in pounds on the booking form to be clear. We stayed as four in a room (two adults and two chidren) and this was OK but a little cramped as a spare bed was made up which took up quite a lot of space. İt would be good to have reading lights in the room in the evening instead of one main light.

Liked: Pleasant atmosphere, helpful and courteous staff, excellent location.

Disliked: The power went out! There was only one working shower for an entire floor. They lost my booking, though they were able to accommodate me anyway, but wow, scary for a moment there!

Liked: I liked its location very much. Sultanahmet is a beautiful area and everything we wanted to see was really close to the hostel.

Disliked: There was nothing in particular that I disliked. It would be nice if we had a small fridge in the room and a richer breakfast.

Liked: The hostel is really close to some of the major sites in Istanbul (ie Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque). The breakfast offers pretty good variety and fairly decent food. The rooftop where they serve breakfast is really cute.

Disliked: The shared bathrooms (I stayed in a dorm) smelled funny and when people take a shower the water gets all over the floor.

Liked: Great Location! Right next to the blue mosque and hagia sophia. The staff are very helpful and nice. Burcak is fantastic!!!! Very helpful!!! Great rooftop terrace which is very easy to meet people if your travelling alone. Easy to book a day trip to Gallipoli. Really loved staying here! Highly recommend!!!

Liked: Big Apple is the best hostel i have stayed in last 3 years .. Location is great , price is really good,rooms very clean and all rooms have AC.which is another hostel in Istanbul dont have... breakfast was really good on the roof terrace with Bosphorus view.Thank you so much for friendly staffs.

Liked: I liked the way the 2 guys running the front desk helped me out with my flight \ directions and everything i needed to know about this area and Instanbul/Its a cool atmosphere among the travelers \ I made quite a lot of new friends and got drunk with different people from here every nightI rate this placeAlso its clean \ safe \ quiet for a decent sleep with aircon// go the air con

Liked: Super friendly staff, and very clean. When the windows are closed it is very quiet in the rooms. Also each room has an AC unit which is nice when it gets hot. Very friendly and fun atmosphere.

Liked: We enjoyed our stay in Big Apple hostel. We stayed in a cozy, bright, double ensuite room. Offered good quality. Private bathroom, shower with hot water, tv - all or even more that you can expect from hostel. Moreover, the room was cleaned every day. It was not particulary big, but quite enough for a week holidays. I would recommend to make sure after booking that your room has windows (there's one without, though with air-conditioning).Special "thank you" to Sharan and all the staff, for all their effort to make the atmosphere nice and friendly there. They even took us on a "Istambul by night" clubbing trip on our last night in Turkey - that was enjoyable - thanks guys!:) - Conrad & Cristina
