Liked: The owner Mehtin is an excellent host and very conscientious -- and the hotel serves a fine breakfast in the upstairs eating area overlooking the Bosphorous. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Disliked: I was satisfied with all aspects of my stay. It was better than I expected, though I opted for the basic, no-frills accomodation..

Liked: Great Turkish hospitality. The owner and staff make u feel right at home. The breakfat was really good and the view from the breakfast area was incredible. I stayed in a dorm bed and had no problems, it was warm at night, the bed was comfy, I had a locker for my bag and never felt unsafe. The washrooms were very clean as well. If u needed anything at all the staff were more then happy to help or accommodate. Great place to stay.

Disliked: Could us a sofa area but never spent much time in the hostel and much preferred the view from upstairs

Liked: 1. location: topkapi palace, blue mosque, aya sofya, basilica cistern all in walking distance (max. 10 min); a taxi stand (they use the meter!!!) just around the corner .... 2. very nice staff !!!

Disliked: airport pickup by shuttle bus is way overpriced with 25 euros (taxi would have been the same price without waiting time)

Liked: It was in a convenient location, very clean and well-kept. The Turkish breakfast was excellent as well.

Liked: Metin and others are very helpful and warm- the guesthouse helped to keep some of our luggage for a few days before we checked in. The place has a lot of character- it is nice to sit in the kitchen-cum dining-cum-common room on the top floor and chat with people and watch the bosphorus.

Disliked: It appear a bit overpriced for what is offered, but may be it is the location. Evsen Hotel where we stayed first has less character than Tulip but offers better services as a hotel (e.g. better breakfast) and is cheaper.

Liked: Room and bathroom were clean. Metin was a very friendly host. I was a little bit not happy that day, then he arranged for some guests to go out for water pipe in a local place. It really lifted up my mood!! He was also always being helpful when the guests were having questions regarding "where to go" kind of things.

Disliked: Hmm.. so far nothing. In fact, I will definitely go back to Tulip Hostel if I am to visit Istanbul again next time.

Liked: It was a really convenient location with a great street nearby with tons of food and stuff to do. It was very well kept, and the staff was really kind.

Disliked: It was not very social, more quiet and residential.

Liked: Enes and his brother were really welcoming, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area. The free breakfast was also the best we had in our time in Turkey.

Disliked: Rooms close to the reception could do with a bit of better soundproofing. Rooms and particularly bathrooms were a bit basic but good value for price.

Liked: In a good location with a beautiful view over the Bosphorus from the common area. Easily accessible with helpful, friendly staff.

Disliked: There are very steep marble spiral staircases which are not all that easy to get up and down with big backpacks. Not a big issue really though.

Liked: Tulip Guesthouse is in a really good location since it's a 10 minute walk to the tram, Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sofia. The staff is so friendly and showed us around Istanbul by taking us to different bars and clubs. They were always making us tea and would give us great recommendations of places to go and things to see.

Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: The people who worked there were more than happy to show us around and they were super welcoming. They always made us tea in the afternoon and chatted with us. The location was really convenient to all of the historic sites but in a nice quiet pocket near a bunch of delicious restaurants.

Liked: Everything was excellent, but two things were surpassingly good: the staff and the breakfast. The staff--two guys named Metin and Enes--were absolutely the best that I have ever experienced in any hostel, and I've traveled all around Europe staying in hostels. I noted with satisfaction that they won the hostelbookers.com Best Staff Award in 2010, and it was well-deserved. And the breakfast was definitely the best hostel breakfast I've ever had and better than many hotels as well; a wide variety of foods and drinks and a lot of them. All in all a wonderful experience.

Liked: The room was cosy and the breakfast was nice. Most of all, i've liked the location, it's near most important places to visit, it saved me lots of money in transportation.

Disliked: The room was a little small.

Liked: Metin and staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the city, its history and its culture. Very good facilities and staff.

Disliked: Hot water is a bit funny in the morning, have a shower in the evening to guarantee hot water.

Liked: Rooms were spacious and very clean. The beddings were nice and comfy. The hotel is in a great location-near major sights but in a quiet area. The staff were wonderful and very helpful...I've stayed in several budget hotels in the area and this one was the best.

Disliked: Nothing. It was great.

Liked: The guys here are great, very helpful. Help you to see the big sites with some local flavor. The location is beautiful, but just be ready for a 10 minute walk home or to the tram. Really enjoyed the breakfast and WiFi.

Disliked: A little overly-friendly for my taste, but as a woman traveling alone I think it was all a Turkish effort to make me feel welcome and included.

Liked: The staff was great - they were very friendly and gave us many advices where to go and what to visit. Room was clean with daily (!) cleaning service. Perfect location just few steps from the most important sights.

Disliked: Few times we woke up because of the noise from stairs.

Liked: Probably the best place I've ever stayed. Staff were faultless and went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time. I loved every second!
