About Pineapple Guesthouse
Pineapple Guesthouse is a very friendly family-run guesthouse. We welcome guests from all over the world. Singles, couples, families and groups are all welcome.
Your English and Thai hosts, Steve and Lek, have been running Pineapple Guesthouse for eight years and by now they should know what customers want.
As well as the Guesthouse, Pineapple Cafe serves the best breakfast in the vicinity as well as a selection of other Western and Thai food plus beers, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks. It's not always open in low season.
There's no common room but many of our guests take advantage of the cafe and the area outside to relax and meet other travellers. There are also a couple of sofas dotted around the place for relaxing and chatting.
There's free wifi throughout plus internt facilities for those without laptops (also free).
We provide a reasonably priced laundry service but the machines are not for public use.
We rent out golf clubs and DVD players and there's plenty of watersports and snorkelling equipment to borrow free of charge.
We have a book exchange plus a number of travel books for reference, though you have to ask for those as they tend to disappear if left out!
We don't sell tours but we are happy to advise anybody about local activities, onward travel and help with any travel planning as Steve and Lek are well travelled throughout Asia and other parts of the world.
The atmosphere at Pineapple is very much down to the guests so we look forward to welcoming you.
Finally, we need to state that balance payment is by cash only in Thai Baht. We do not accept credit cards or other currencies.
Pineapple Guesthouse has 19 private aircon rooms, one fan room (not en-suite) plus a ten bed mixed dorm.
The private aircon rooms each have an en-suite bathroom with hot shower, 85 channel cable TV, in-room safe, large fridge with free drinking water (not low season) and air-conditioning. We have kings, twins and triples available. The triples have one 5 foot bad plus a single so two of you will have to share. Most private rooms are up two flights of stairs so may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm. They are all nicely decorated. Our superior kings are all newly decorated and have balconies.
The dorm is on the first floor (second for you Americans!). It is mixed, has ten beds, two showers, one toilet with another available on the ground floor. Each bed has its own good sized locker. The dorm has aircon for use at night from November to March only, as well as loads of fans.
The ground floor double bed fan room has an outside bathroom but the room has fridge, safe, TV and wifi. It is a small, fairly basic room so please don't expect too much.
Linen and towels are provided for all guests and the rooms are cleaned daily, provided you don't spend all day lazing in bed!
Pineapple Guesthouse is located at the southern end of Karon, about five minutes walk to the beach, in an area known as Karon Plaza.
In the immediate vicinity you'll find a number of restaurants, bars, shops, massage places banks and ATMs.
Karon is a medium-sized resort. It's too quiet for some, too busy for others but for many it's just right. There are no nightclubs but Patong is a 15 minute drive away in a tuktuk. In low season Karon is usually very quiet.
The main attraction is the beach; a long stretch of golden, squeaky sand. It gets quite busy from December to March but can be prectically deserted from June to October when the monsoon makes swimming unadvisable.
Kata Beach is a twenty minute walk away for a change of scenery. We can also suggest pools nearby which can be used for a reasonable cost.
Snorkelling, surfing (low season only), beach volleyball and minigolf are available locally. Other sports you can try include shooting, scuba-diving, go-karting, fishing and cable skiing.
Tours to Phi Phi and James Bond Island are popular. Phuket Town, Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha can also be arranged. There's a footpath to Big Buddha close to us so if you are feeling energetic, and it hasn't been raining, we'll show you the way.
