Baanrai Tanoi – Traditional Romantic Guesthouse in Khao Kho – Phetchabun Province.
Khao Kho is a beautiful mountain retreat bordering the Thung Saleang Luang National Park. It is known for its rare butterflies, unique sweet water jellyfish, spectacular mountain views, temples, markets, river rafting, paragliding, and the very pleasant mountain climate. In this picturesque part of Thailand we offer three spacious and modern guesthouses for rent. Each house is designed for 2 holiday seekers.

The typical question which always is being asked first is: What means “Baanrai”? Baanrai actually means farm house in Thai. But we think that the term guesthouse is more appropriate as you can see from the pictures. The owner, a world traveller and most of all a local of Khao Kho built the guesthouses in 2009. Currently she has three guesthouses, which can accommodate each easily two holiday seekers. But besides offering beautiful guesthouses with an excellent service, Tanoi offers something most professional hotels cannot. Because she is related to almost all the 200 families living in Khao Kho, she can organize everything for you. In Tanoi you are embedded with the local people, live in a local neighbourhood and will even have access to the latest local gossip if you wish so. Tanoi can be the door opener to another world. Khao Kho is best for nature seekers, the sports interested, and families and if you want to distress. It offers something which in most of the industrialized countries does not exist anymore. Not just lovely, friendly people, but the possibility to make friends within intact family clans where everybody helps and respects each other. Come here and find out for yourself. Besides that Khao Kho has a fresh mountain climate from October to March which is comparable with summers in Northern Europe, Japan or the US. Plus Khao Kho offers a beautiful country side, many sports possibilities and good fresh Asian food. Accommodation Information

All three guesthouses have a king size bed, night tables with lamps, a big cold fridge, international satellite TV, a big ventilator (no need for air conditioning in this pleasant mountain climate) and a mosquito net. The bath room is equipped with a hot shower, a sink, a modern toilet, a mirror and has clean water access (filtered - not usual for other guesthouses here). On the terrace there is a table and a bench which gives you enough place to have your meals. We offer for additional costs: laundry cleaning, ironing, breakfast/lunch/dinner, big pig barbecue, taxi service, jungle tours and market visits.

Location Information

Khao Kho is situated in the Phetchabun Province a more central than Northern Province of Thailand. It is about a one hour drive from Phetchabun itself and a 30 minutes drive from Lom Sak away. Bangkok to the south and Chiang Mai to the north are 6 hours drive away. So Khao Kho lies right in the middle. Khon Kaen and Udon Thani are both about 5 hours away to the east.
Close to the guesthouses is a local noodle shop. The village centre is 5 minutes by car.
