Liked: the location

Disliked: the rooms were ( i visited 3) incredibly dirty and dark and the sheets were disgusting!!!!

Liked: It was cheap and relatively near the Kwai bridge. The wireless was strong and fast.

Disliked: Room was crawling with ants that bit. We were also given mouldy baked beans for breakfast but the staff were apologetic and gave us an alternative. There was also little to no information on how to get to the hostel from anywhere in Kachanaburi.

Liked: Okay location, river raft rooms seemed nicer than the stone bungalows where we stayed.

Disliked: Not clean, bed and bathroom dirty. The sheets weren't clean and the curtains didn't close fully so lack of privacy. Heard from other people of cheaper and better places to stay along the main street so not even good value for money. No one around to ask for help, had a menu but no sign of who to order with.

Liked: Decent value, friendly staff and pretty helpful in terms of booking onward journeys to Bangkok.

Disliked: Seemed like I was the only one there and there were loads of ants in the bathroom - on the walls, sink, toilet!

Liked: Erm...not much

Disliked: Not the best location, floor in room was filthy, felt like i was in a dungeon, ants nest in the bathroom, dirty bed sheets, receptionist spoke literally no English whatsoever couldn't even understand i had made a booking, Expensive for the what it was, annoying cats that wont leave you alone the whole time you are sitting in the chill-out area! Much better guesthouses along the main area at better prices!

Liked: Sam is quite friendly and speaks good English.

Disliked: I was surprised how few other travelers were staying there between Christmas and New Year's. It was very quiet. Could be a pro, could be a con, depends what you're looking for.

Liked: Sam is lovely and very friendly and helpful. His staff however arent so good, she left a potential customer standing for 10 minutes whilst she finished her phonecall and has very limited English skills. I loved the location but if you want to walk to River Kwai it felt a long way especially at night. I hired a bike and was able to see most of the attractions in town in the one day

Disliked: I felt that it could have been cleaner. I orginally booked the stone cottage but changed to a room on the river as the cottage looked old and needed a clean and repaint. The lane it is on is very dark at night so be careful especially if on your own

Liked: Very good situated. Apartment over the river are great value for money, nice and clean. Sam helped us with information on trips, excursions...

Disliked: Cheapest apparments are old and not so great. Sometimes there was nobody at the reception.

Liked: after bangkok and before travelling north this is the perfect place to regroup. very quiet well placed on the river, sam is great but his staff do not speak english.location of sams river raft house for peace and tranquility is second to none.

Disliked: just the steps down to the accommodation not too daunting but steep about 20 steps.

Liked: Nice that its situated on the water. Quite easy to find with the map Sam provides for you, about a 15-20 min walk from Kanchanaburi Bus Station.Clean and friendly.

Disliked: Mix up about costs meant that instead of being 250B/ night it was 325B but still good place to stay

Liked: Location.

Disliked: The resturant was closed every evening even though we were told it would be open and there were no places to eat near by. we ended up eating at a nearby hostel, VN hostel. They had no bikes to hire eventhough, again, they said there were and we were again directed to VN hostel. The stone bungalow we received at first was horrible, old and unclean and very hot. We were moved to a river rafthouse that was a bit better but the whole place could do with a referb and a good clean. the bathroom was dirty and I counted 10 cockroaches in one night. I would just stay at VN down the road it looked much better.

Liked: The River Hut we had was an upgrade to a room that was very good, from the outside you think what the hell is this but once inside it was good, excellent fridge, great tv, big bed , nice lounge, great position right on the water. Off the main area which was good but some great eateries just up the road, one was so good we ate their most of the time. Staff are really not interested in helping you but we had read about this previously but all other places in the area we keen to chat and provided excellent service.

Liked: What I didn't like was that even though they have free Internet you have to connect to their router via cable, and there is only one cable available, and you have to do it at a crowdy reception, crowded with kids.

Liked: It is lovely to wake up and have a view over the river. It is nice to live in a floating house, but if you become easily seasick, then it might not be the best place for you to stay! We had a great time here and sam is a very friendly knowlodged men! It is nice and quiet and if you are tired of normal hostels, then this is the place to stay!

Liked: Very quiet, not too far from town but far enough from the nightlife if you want some peace. Only problem is that there are much cheaper alternatives with better settings and communal areas.

Liked: The location was'superb and very peaceful'staff were very friendly and,down to earth' Sam's wife' who was running it' was very friendly'and,spoke English' the food'on offer,was great'and varied'we also met' Sam on a number,of occasions' the price's were very reasonable' all in all'a very nice and memorable'experience'and i would certainly' go again. Very happy.

Liked: Very close to the main street and bars and restaurants. Excellent value for money. We stayed in the stone bungalows which are a bit cheaper. Very basic but you get all you need. Found it hard to sleep with mangos falling from the trees onto the roof all night though! Otherwise very pleasant stay! Staff here are very friendly and helpful.

Liked: The helpful staff, they would order a taxi for you and it would arrive in two minutes. The restuarant is reasonably cheap and absolutely delicious. I reccomment their fruit smoothies!

Liked: 1) The price (Value for Money), especially the 'Stone Room' which we stayed in ; and 2) The location - walking distance from the Railway Station, famous War Cementary and Night Market (and of course having river view)3) The best part - on arrival, I found my name written in advance on their 'white board' 4) They did not take any key deposit and charged exactly the same price as was written on their website as advance.
