Your Style River Cruise
We hope your guidebook did not miss to mention Chao Phraya River as Thailand’s main artery. And that’s why you can find many interesting attractions along the banks, from cultural ones to lifestyle ones.
Some outstanding places are The Grand Palace, The Emerald Buddha and Wat Po at Ta Chaeng Pier (N.9), Wat Arun at Ta Tien Pier (N.8) and Flower Market at Sapan Phud Pier (N.6). But who knows the best what you’d like to see. Why missing this wonderful trip when you can make it your own style!
The cruise starts at Central Pier (Tak Sin BTS Station). Chao Phraya Express Boat provides 5 types of boat; white flag, orange flag, yellow flag, blue flag and green-yellow flag. Each type stops at different piers; price range is only 15-35 THB/person! Just check the piers you’d like to go before choosing the boat.
BTS Sky Train can take you to Central Pier at the cost of 40 THB/person from Mo Chit Station.
So total cost for this River trip is around 200 THB!!
Chatuchak Weekend Market (JJ Market)
This is NOT a shop, NOT a mall, but the world’s greatest maze of a flea market. Located on Paholyothin Road, Chatuchak Weekend Market or JJ is one of the largest shopping centers in Bangkok. Every thing can be found here, and I do mean EVERYTHING. Over 8,000 shops are rowed up inside the area selling an infinite variety of stuff, from local products, handicrafts, accessories, clothes, funitures, antiques to pets and plants. Various flowers are sold only on Wednesday and Thursday. The market opens from 07.00 a.m. – 06.00 p.m. Delivery service is also available at the Post Counter close to Government Saving Bank.
Finding your way from BTS or MRT to JJ is easy, just follow the crowds. Chatuchak always gets very hot and humid during the day, so going early in the day when it is a bit cooler is recommended. Don’t forget to Bargain Bargain and Bargain and you will get stuffs in very good price. Further advice, If you see stuffs you like, bargain hard, buy it and be on your way. There is no certainty you will ever return to the same spot again.
