Discovery Lodge is located a great distance from Bangkok's city center, which is fine with me because I am not attracted to the attractions there that attract many people. Streets in the hostel's area have a mixture of Thai and western influence. On the main street are car dealers that offer expensive name brands, beauty salons and even 7 Eleven and on side streets there are sidewalk cooking stalls that produce intriguing selections. The staff at this lodge are the friendliest I have met in any hostel.

Staff was extremely helpful. Helped us so much when we arrived at 2 in the morning in the pouring rain. A great place to wake up in the morning...lots of travellers there to talk to. Just hard to find in the night time. It's pretty hidden with minimal signs.

Convivial atmosphere without being rowdy. Free internet. Staff offer to share/cook food. Fridge & TV in rooms. Small patio outside each room.

Very helpful in advising how to get around. Also not too inquisitive. You can really do whatever it is you want!
