About Friendly Gecko
As accommodation we offer private rooms and dormitories. All rooms are fitted with mosquito nets and fans; there is also air-conditioning in the private rooms. Snacks and drinks (water/sodas/beer) are always for sale in the living room. There is also a TV and DVD player in our community area. Internet access is available for a low fee.
In our big garden there is a gathering area with tables, chairs and hammocks. We also offer a weekly BBQ. More pictures will follow soon.
If you have questions, or need information or support, assistance is always available from our on-site managers. We want to offer you a safe and carefree environment for your exciting new experiences in Africa.
We have a 6-bed female dorm and a 4-bed mixed dormitory. They are fully equipped with mosquito nets, fans and shelves. Each dorm has its own bathroom.
Our private rooms are also equipped with air-conditioning, mosquito nets, shelves and fans. Moreover you have your own bathroom.
The state run electricity supply is unfortunately not very reliable (on average we have 16 hours’ electricity per day). Therefore electronic devices such as air-conditioning or TV may not be always be available. However, we have decided not to have a generator. First of all it is not ecological and it is noisy, moreover we believe that it isn't really necessary. We always have running water, our kitchen is gas operated, we have safe candle holders in each room and bathroom and our internet works independently from the electricity.
Our Guest House is located outside of down-town Dar es Salaam in the Mbezi Beach District. It is very close to the well known "White Sands" area where the boats for tourists are heading off to Mbudya Island. There are some reasons why we prefer to be outside of the center: We want to have space, a lot of "green" around ourselves and no noise or smog. Moreover we are very close to our orphanage.
