Liked: It is near the Jiantan MRT station and just across the Shilin Night Market. It has a private comfort room unlike other hostels where you have to share the toilet with others. Kevin Yang was very cooperative and helpful. All in all, it was a great stay!

Disliked: The elevator looked like it was from a horror movie --- it is old and dirty, but working. So it's still good.

Liked: very closed to Shilin night market, free wifi got a lovely cozy room for our own, very private

Disliked: as it's a private flat, no interaction with the owner or other travelers, not really a 'hostel' but more like a private flat, but it's fine for me just felt a little unsafe when returning to the flat late because there are others residents going in and out of the building

Liked: We booked a private double and had a little flat on our own including a bedroom and a bathroom. The flat was very comfy with its lovely IKEA decoration :-).

Disliked: Since we had a flat on our own, we had no contact to other travellers. This is no place for people who look for social interaction...

Liked: It is near to ShiLin night market and Jian Tan MRT. Shi Lin night market has shifted to right in front of the hostel. In addition, it has a 7-eleven at the building ground floor.

Disliked: The room is very cold during winter.

Liked: It is near to the Jiantan MRT station, about 3-4 minutes walk and close to Shilin Night Market which is a plus for people who would like to do last minute shopping at the night market.

Liked: This place is very cozy. I even extend my stay for another day. Love the room design & the view from my room.

Disliked: The coridoor is a bit quiet & dim light. Feel not safe at night. BUT is safe

Liked: Location which very close to Shilin Night Market. The buiding with the elevator and very nice and quick response from Kevin.

Disliked: The temperature of water in toilet is not stable.

Liked: Fantastic location, close to the MRT and the night market. Plenty of food around the area and within a 10-20 minute train ride to most locations. The room was immaculately clean, had lots of character and charm. Shower was great and the bed was comfortable. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. Very secure as well. Kevin's english is great so no problems contacting him to stay there. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Taipei this is it.

Disliked: Nothing really. Would have been good to have some free maps, or a lonely planet book in the room to make finding out where to go in Taipei a bit easier.

Liked: 1. It is a very convenient base for visiting Yangminshan, Beitou, Tamshui. Shilin night market is just across the street and there are plenty of sports shop. 2. A 24hr 7-eleven store is just below the building. The salmon sushi is quite tasty. 3. Room & toilet is clean, comfortable and adequately equipped (Cabled LCD TV, Fridge, HairDryer, Aircon, Water heater) for the price paid. 4. Value for money.

Disliked: 1. The entrance to the building is dark. Could have brighten it up a little bit. However there is a security guard as well as a brightly lit 7-eleven store nearby. 2. No storage for the luggages but Kelvin offers to store our luggages at an empty room for a small fee. For people who checks out with departing flight in the evening. 3. There is no reception area thus you will need to contact Kelvin upon arrival meaning you have to get a SIM card or make a call from a phone booth, I bought a 3G uSIM with 5 days unliimited data and voice plan for NTW$645.

Liked: Good location. Have a 7-11 store right below. Right beside the famous Shilin night market and also only a few steps to the MRT and bus station.

Disliked: Its like a refurbished studio apartments so with other tenents staying in the same building. There's no atmosphere of a backpackers.

Liked: Location of Fun Taipei Backpackers was as described. A short walk from the MRT station. When we first walked to the place lugging our luggage from the station, it was a longer walk than expected, about 8-10 minutes. But it was an okay distance without dragging the luggage along. A convenience store is located at the ground floor of the building. The room we booked, Superior Private Double Ensuite, is clean, neat and nicely decorated. It looks like what you will see in an Ikea showroom. Lovely. My friend and I were pleasantly surprised how well equipped the room is. Sufficient space for luggage sorting, air conditioner, a mini fridge, a television, free WiFi, an attached hair dryer in the bathroom, extra pillow, and multiple clothes hangers etc. Kevin, our contact person, is friendly. There is no lobby for 'check-in' as the room is in a residential apartment building. He gave clear instructions to collect our room key over the phone, and came to our room to do the necessary administration.

Disliked: There was no door latch from the inside of the room. As female travellers, we prefer a latch to use other than the electronic lock system. Afterall, any person with an extra key can get into our room easily while we're asleep.

Liked: Great and lovely private room. Had a great stay! Value for money :) It is basically a room in a building so it's not suitable if you are looking to meet other travellers. Well located behind Shilin night market. Kevin is friendly and responsive to all our questions. Tip: print out map to get there and call kevin in advance before reaching. There is no signage for the hostel.

Disliked: Stinky lift but everything else is great ;)

Liked: It is really great that I can go to the largest night market in Taiwan, Shilin night market, within 5 minutes!!!!! It is also convenient to arrive MTR station!!!!!

Disliked: um...it would be much better if the check-in time could be earlier, but it was not a big matter for me

Liked: I like the room because it's clean and tidy. Love it with the attached bathroom and hot shower as you must need it during winter time. Love the location as it's just 5 minutes walk away from Shilin Nightmarket, really convenience to get food around. 7 Eleven is just located at ground floor where you can get a nice hot coffee.

Disliked: Lift and it's surrounding were a lil bit eerie.

Liked: The Hostel Fun BaclPacker was not our only stay in Taiwan our Taipei on this trip. But it supriesed us pleasantly after we settled in. Cleanliness, Security, Privacy, Quiet and Convenience to move about - near MRT station, food outlets, close by Shilin night market. The Location is great once you find the place. which is actually very convenient and not really hard to find.

Disliked: Location of the entrance which is at the back of the main street where the Building No. suddently disappear and after asking and searching found it oddly to be at the back street after walking thro a lane. However, later we found it pleasant to just use the back-street which is bearly 50 metres from a main road which lead to the MRT station only another 200 metres away. It was great after all.
