-directly opposite Taipei Main Station (and the Airport Bus Depot).
-in the same building as K-Mall (go to floor 1-5 to satisfy your craving for anything electronic -cameras,laptops, cellphones, ipods, they are bound to carry anything your heart desires)
-right next to the popular Mitsukoshi Department store (go there for designer shopping, currency exchange, their large food court, and supermarket on the basement floor)
-we are in the Cramschool 'Buxiban' district so it's always quick and bustling with an interesting mix of locals, travelers, Buxiban students and ESL students. So, with such heavy foot traffic right outside our doors, you will find all sorts of shopping, culture, and food/cuisine to suit your palate (including-stinky tofu, pigs intestine with fermented noodle soup,sushi,buns, doner kebab, all types of rice and noodles, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway, KFC, and so much more!)

While HI-Taipei is one of the oldest hostels in Taipei (we are going into our 9th year), Hostelling International (Founded in Althena, Germany in 1909), celebrates our 100th anniversary in 2009. Therefore, we are offering:

We have a variety of accommodations to appeal to everyone from budget rooms starting at NT$290 per night where you can use your own sleeping bag or use ours on us! We also have
male or female dorms (6 & 8-share bunk-beds) with en-suite bathrooms, budget 8-share dorms and 4-share single-bed dorms (with external bathrooms), double rooms & multi-bed private rooms with en-suite bathrooms. You can even book entire rooms for you and your family or group of friends at a budget price!

We offer budget prices for everyone!!! Please note that our online rates are only valid for HI (YHA) Membership Cardholders. For everyone else (non-members), an extra fee of ONLY NT$100 per bed per night is added to the online rate for dorm bookings and an extra fee of NT$200 per bed per night will be added to the online rate for 8-bed budget(without bathroom, 290NT$ per night) dorm bookings.

To receive online rates (especially great for long stays and extended travel), we encourage you to get your HI (YHA) Membership Card upon arrival for an annual fee of ONLY NT$600. HI (YHA) Membership Cards purchased in Taiwan are accepted by all HI (YHA) hostels in over 80 countries around the World. "Temporary" HI (or YHA) Membership Cards from other countries will also be accepted in Taiwan.
