Liked: This hostel is comfortable and extremely clean. It has a nice little bar with some very good Swiss beers. Good inclusive breakfast. The hostel is not in the city centre but getting there by Tram 7 is simple and quick. If when you travel to the hostel you buy a 24hr ticket (Tageskarte) at the machine which costs the same as 2 singles, you can check in at the hostel and then go back into town for the evening. ...and then use it the next day to get around town too.

Disliked: There's not much to eat or do in the evening near this hostel. It's in a residential area with a couple of pasta/pizza restaurants and kebab takeaways. Better to go back into centre of Zurich really (which is easy). The Rot Fabrik centre by the lake with live music, food, bar etc is a short walk away but it was all closed, even on friday and saturday. Perhaps because it was the middle of winter.

Liked: Your typical YHA or HI Hostel...clean, tidy, friendly staff

Disliked: Its 15 minute tram ride into the CBD, no bars/pubs nearby so your stuck drinking at hostel bar which is nice but expensive. So is the meals they offer - 18.50 Francs for 3 course meal!! There is also no shopping strip nearby however there is a local supermarket but not open Sundays so if you need a meal, you need to catch the tram into the city. I would stock up for your own meals in town at Migros (supermarket) before heading to hostel.

Liked: It was very nice looking and clean. The breakfast was pretty good.

Disliked: It was very expensive compared to many other hostels I've stayed in I think if I were to do it again I'd stay in another city if necessary and take the train into Zurich rather than spend so much more on the hostel.

Liked: They were kind enough to lend me an adapter for the strange Swiss power sockets. The place was well looked after inside. Probably the best free breakfasts in a hostel I've had.

Disliked: It's part of the HI group. It's very large

Liked: It was a extremely clean and tidy hostel. The staff at the hostel was very warm and helpful. It was secure and safe place to stay in. I would like to stay again in the Zurich Youth Hostel.

Liked: Dinner is good value for money. The staff are really helpful and the facilities are really good (lights, lockers, ample bathrooms etc)

Disliked: It seemed like a cattle farm for backpackers and families. It's really large and almost impossible to meet people because it's so big. There's a bar, but it's not very social.

Liked: It was perfect for our one night stay in Zurich, a quick tram ride to the city center. The breakfast was good and it was easy to meet other travelers.

Disliked: We had a bit of a mix up with the beds in our room. When we first got there, someone's stuff was all over one of the beds that was assigned to us. It was just a misunderstanding and everything was worked out, but it caused a bit of stress. We also thought it was pretty expensive for what it was!

Liked: Decent public space on the main floor. Free Wifi access here. Showers were nice.

Disliked: Rooms are OK, but really only good for sleeping. Little space to move around. A little ways outside the city centre, but doable with a few minutes walk to the closest tram station.

Liked: Potentially awesome building for a hostel. Generally very clean.

Disliked: No atmosphere for nightlife, no organized nightlife activities.
