Welcome to the Jailhotel Löwengraben – the first Jailhotel in Switzerland !

The historical building was built in 1862. It was used as a prison until autumn 1998. Where prisoners attempted to escape for more than 135 years, today, tourists and residents of Lucerne enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Jail hotel and Alcatraz- Bar.

But watch out ! The "Löwengraben" is the first prison in Switzerland you'll never want to leave. May we lock you up ?

All the rooms are equipped with toilet, washbasin and shower ( Non smoking rooms ) . toilet, washbasin and shower.

Would you like to know more about life behind bars ? We recommend a stay in our "unplugged-cells". Renovated in cooperation with the local memorial board, these rooms are as close you can get to the original cells. Each room has its own shower next door.
