Liked: Free lockers, quite good heating system, breakfast is normal and it is included in the room price. the facilities are quite nice, and with free WIFI. There is a guest kitchen, but not quite equipped (only pans and utelsils)

Disliked: BAD Location, TOO FAR from bahnhof, very inconvenient even with the bus stop next to it (abt 30minutes to wait for a bus). Too many AMERICANS. quite a commercialised hostel, with a pub attached. However, people who like partying should love the hostel. The bathing area is very insecure and the dorms are very small, cannot accommodate luggages. VERY NOISY hostel with the pub

Liked: the heater in our room wasnt working but they quickly rectified it with a mobile heater. rooms are really clean. from the reception to housekeeping, the staff are very helpful and informative. definitely recommended and really value for money! i had a great stay in Balmer's!

Liked: its really comfy and i love the view and location of the hostel!

Disliked: the bathrooms are really wet at times! other than that, there is nothing to dislike!

Liked: happy hour in the nightclub, offered different things like a hammock room foor napping during the day. Helpful staff even when in a hurry. Nice feel to the place.

Disliked: A mouse was in our room during night and we could hear it going about before we scared it off A lot of american college graduates, were a bit annoying.

Liked: The staff are VERY friendly and helpful - particularly Cecile and the English girl whose name I didn't catch. Beds are comfortable. Good chill out and socialising areas. Good location. Lots of activities on offer. Good free breakfast (either muesli and fruit or continental, plus tea/coffee and juice).

Disliked: I didn't particularly dislike anything, but the restaurant has closed down for summer and they also have a minor problem with mice in the kitchen (apart from that, the kitchen is very clean - just need to set some traps!!). Another improvement would be having lockers or some sort of security deposit boxes IN the rooms. These are available but in the communal areas.

Liked: Grill and the beer garden, helpful activities staff, nightly DVDs.

Disliked: Limited 'free' breakfast, not very well equipped kitchen, lockout during the day, expensive coin-operated internet computers.

Liked: balmers is always a party and if that sounds like your thing...go for it. they organise anything you want from bungee jumping to white water rafting.

Liked: good location, vibrant, bar available

Disliked: too noisy. Don't go here unless you want to party with young 20' year old travellers. Dorms are terribly loud.

Liked: good location, staff was very friendly, good place to meet people.

Disliked: Do not expect to get a wink of sleep. I went up to bed about one am after people some people downstairs and drinking a bit. In the course of seven hours, there were doors slamming, people screaming down the hall, a girl puked in the bunk next to me, and a couple decided to have sex in the bunk below me. (Luckily it did not last long) Earplugs did not help. The nice Australian guy at the night desk was trying to get people to be quiet, but it was simply impossible. All the guests seemed to be 20 year old North Americans. Granted, it was a Friday night in high season, so perhaps it is a bit quieter during the week. The hostel does advertise itself as a party hostel, so I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised. I did move over to the Backpackers Villa, which is very nice and much quieter, however a little harder to meet people.

Liked: Great party!

Disliked: The party was a little too great. In the morning, this are disgusting...the cleaning staff do a good job, its just a shame that it takes so long! Daily room lockout is annoying.

Liked: The staff were great. I like how easy it was to plan activities and all of the info available. The atmosphere there was fun and met lots of friends.
