Liked: There was very little to like--if I had to say one thing, the views of the lake from the front patio area were very nice.

Disliked: The hostel was dirty and ill maintained. While the owner was nice enough, upon entering the hostel it was clear that the property was very very ill maintained. The sheets were self service (not a problem) and stored in large trash bags and upon pulling them out, they were stained and wet in several instances. Further, the entire hostel with a "kitchen" was completely disgustingly dirty. It was extremely unacceptable and while the owner was quite nice, I wouldn't have paid more than 10,00 Euro a person for the room. I highly recommend staying at this place only as an absolute last resort.

Liked: Nothing.

Disliked: The place was disgustingly dirty. Bugs crawling on floor, cobwebs all over, stove grimy on top and knobs, oven did not work, sink dripped, tables filthy. Awful.

Liked: Mr. Hans was very helpful and accommodating, giving us tips for our tour - where to go to, what to visit, etc., down to grocery stores and even driving us to one! Very scenic location of the apartment. Wish there were more than one bath & toilet though, as it was hard to manage with 7 people...

Liked: We stayed in Heide's Hostel. The Lady there was very friendly and helpful. This hostel is very near to Interlaken west railway station and 15mins walk from Ost too. We were a group of 4 couples. The hostel facility is good, it is with 2 bedroom with 4 beds in each. One attached bathroom and one common bathroom. A common kitchen with good facility is also available.But, we DO NOT recommend any one to visit the hotel Shalimar, which is near by as the service there is very very poor. Not at all customer friendly.
