Liked: Everything! The hostel has everything and is quite large. The staff were really good, there is a good lounge where there is pool and table soccer, the breakfast was awesome and the rooms were really tidy.

Disliked: Nothing. Just note though to take their directions and not google maps that show the turn off before hotel spinne.

Liked: Very good breakfast on offer, included in the room price (as well it should be, considering Switzerland's very high living costs). Sheets included, but not towels. Clean room.

Disliked: Not much. It looks quite ugly from the outside, but you can't have everything. Oh, and the kitchen is far too small if many guests want to cook at once - only one 5 ring hob, and a one litre kettle.

Liked: It was very clean, had great atmosphere and the staff were very helpful. The view in the morning when u walk out the hostel is stunning and the location is perfect. Grindelwald is a great place to visit!

Disliked: Some of my party disliked having male and female toilets in the same room with separate shower rooms leading off it, however this didn't bother me at all.

Disliked: The room was too small (a kind of attic) and packed with mattresses. It was four floors by stairs plus an extra stair inside the room.

Liked: I am normally not a fan of staying in hostels but this one was great. It felt like summer camp, great spaces indoors and outdoors to hang out. Full kitchen, easy to make your own food. Rooms were big and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. It is in a great location, just off the main street. Easy walk to hiking trails, train station, and grocery stores.

Disliked: The bathrooms got a little dirty- would recommend showering right after they have been cleaned. The food they sell at the hostel is pretty expensive and not very good.

Liked: Great laid back atmosphere, very close to station and starts for hiking. Great having lockers in room, feel comfortable leaving stuff there all day. Extremely friendly staff, will help you with what to do in the area. Great having FREE access to local pool, nice water slide!

Disliked: Internet was a little in and out - could improve this!

Liked: Beautiful views, very friendly and helpful staff. Easy to find, and a great value for what you get. The free breakfast in the morning was great, and the availability of food at the hostel for lunch/dinner made finding inexpensive food easy. Would definitely stay there again

Disliked: Bathroom curtains kept coming up and sticking to my legs. Also in the bathroom, there is no place to put your clothes, just one hook outside the shower. The guy/girl bathroom combo was disconcerting at first, and slightly grew on me, but having the separate genders' toilets in each gender's assigned shower area would probably be better.

Liked: Good communal facilities and a great breakfast!

Disliked: The staff were unhelpful. We got three different answers about when we could check in (11am, 1pm and 4.30pm). We came back at 2pm and the staff on the phone said to come back at 4.30pm. We came back again at 6pm, and there still was no-one there. 10 mins later, a man arrived, but said that our room wasn't actually a double, it was a twin. He eventually found a double, but was fairly annoyed/ abrupt about having to make the effort to find it.

Liked: I like the lodge style buildings that fit in with the architecture of the buildings in the Grindewald region. My room which was for up to 6 persons was spacious. My sister and I ended up having the room to ourselves only for the night that we stay there.

Disliked: Did not feel very comfortable with the bathroom area. The doors leading to the separate male and female bathrooms were accessible via the common toilet area. However the doors to the bathroom cannot be locked without inconveniencing other users and made me feel less secured when taking a bath. Was not very comfortable that the shower cubicles did not have its own door as well as I'm not used to taking showers under such an environment.

Liked: Atmosphere and character of the place was very friendly and relaxed. The staff was outstanding and helpful in every way. The location was right in town, but had a relaxed feeling. It is a great place for meeting people.

Disliked: We liked everything about the place. It is however not for everyone. Downtown Lodge is mostly a backpackers hostel atmosephere and this may not appeal to everyone. If you are used to a hotel type atmosphere you may not like it....we did.

Liked: We loved the location, within walking distance to train station, clean, helpful staff, good amenities like a table tennis, pool table, nice kitchen. We highly recommend this hostel.

Liked: This lodge offers a clean and comfortable stay if you are planning to stay on low budget. We were offered a room which was although a bit dark but had clean with comfortable beds and clean linen. TV and internet zones are in common area however the internet speed in our room was good too. Pool tables and Game zones are paid. The morning breakfast had ample options to select and the staff was helpful. Though the showers were not attached to our room and were in seperate area, they were clean and not crowded. Overall, an average stay.

Disliked: The rooms were not bright and lacked more light.

Liked: It was a clean and friendly hostel, and having breakfast included is fantastic. The rooms were really nice and didn't feel too cramped. It's a plus to have lockers too as well as a comfortable common room, where everyone can hang out.

Liked: I used dormitory room. It was clean and large room and can use locker.I felt little bit cill in shower room.Especialy they have nice kitchen. So it's better to buy food & beer...etc from supermarket( Migro or Coop, they close around 6pm!) and keep in frige. And there is laundry near this lodge.

Liked: The place was clean, very close to the center, and offered a very nice view from the rooms. The hostel staff were quite friendly and helpful. All in all, a nice and cosy place to stay.
