Youth Hostel Fribourg

Fribourg youth hostel is situated in a noble and historic but newly-renovated wing of the former Community Hospital, dating back to the 17th century, which now resembles a hive of international activity rather than a clinical, sterile hospital. Small wonder - the youth hostel is the only one in the canton and is a venue for travellers from all over the world. In addition to the hostel's light, practical rooms, it has a wide corridor with recessed seating which is the hostel's social hub.

Life in the city centre, with its numerous bars, is fast-moving thanks to the university, high schools and engineering college. And one should not forget that Fribourg is the largest medieval centre in Europe. Gain an overall impression of the city from the tower of the cathedral of St. Nicholas and feast your eyes on the many fountains, bridges, alleys and chapels in front of you. Hungry? Enjoy a fondue at the Cygne or a pizza at Frascati's. A point to remember: Fribourg's most famous resident was Jean Tinguely.
