Liked: We booked a 20 person dorm room and were placed in a 6 person dorm room instead which was nice. They had free hair dryers to use and the breakfast was really good. We also had a balcony to our room.

Disliked: There was a giant hill to climb to get to the train station.

Liked: It was a really nice place, and the location was superb.

Disliked: There was not really anything I particularly disliked, though it was more expensive than most other hostels I've stayed in, without offering anything that they did not.

Liked: The building held the noise from outside the rooms out. You didn't hear everything that was going on outside of the room which is a bonus over some of the older wooden lodgings we've been in.

Disliked: The property itself was decent, we ended up with some poor roommates and didn't get a very good night's sleep, but had they not been so obnoxious it would have been alright.

Liked: It was in a good location. It was generally clean,

Disliked: The staff were unaware of general tourist information. The hostel provided brouchers but were out of English brouchers. The only place to fill a water bottle was in the bathrooms. (wouldnt allow you to use the kitchen. Not a great place to meet fellow travellers if travelling alone.

Liked: Breakfast included was decent, within walking distance of all the attractions in Bern.

Disliked: Lockers were outside of room, and it is rather expensive.

Liked: As a receptionist myself I must tell you that It is a perfect hostel with an excellent management and very nice staff

Liked: It's really close to the city centre, really clean

Disliked: It's not a great place to stay if you're traveling alone or on a budget. There's no kitchen to cook your own food either so you really have to eat out

Liked: Staff very helpful and friendly and room was nice.

Disliked: Showers had nowhere to hang your towel. Bit like changing rooms from high school. They were also a bit dirty.

Liked: It is easy to find.

Disliked: We were double booked so instead of a 6 dorm room we were placed in a 22 dorm and the only discount we got because of it was the 6 franc it costs extra if you don't have the youth hostel card..... The whole place seemed like a boarding school, not very personal at all.

Liked: Great that breakfast and bed linen etc was included in the price.

Disliked: Showers were either scolding hot or freezing cold, but that might have been the time that I chose to shower (evening). The hostel is situated down quite a few steps and a slope which is hard work to go back up with a heavy backpack - there is the funicular, but doesn't seem worth the money for the distance. I was given the key to the luggage room without having to prove that I was staying at the hostel and without having to show identification to prove it was my bag that I was taking from the room.

Liked: good directions that they provide from the train station, breakfast is included, rooms are of good size and the staff are friendly

Disliked: it was pretty expensive (hostel wise) and if you are not a member of the hostelling international it costs more

Liked: The location is pretty good. It's located close to the river, which is great in the summer. It's also a decent walk from the old town and main sights (and train station)---no need to take a tram or bus or anything, which is so nice. The staff was pretty helpful and nice. For a deposit, you can rent a key to a large locker in your room, which fits a big suitcase, so we felt safe there. Breakfast was yummy too.

Disliked: The bathrooms got pretty dirty quickly. We felt gross even after showering because the floors were filthy and it was so hot in the bathrooms. The bedrooms were cramped too. We stayed in a room for six people, and it was definitely a tight squeeze.
