Liked: It was very neat and tidy, offering great facilities! The location of the hostel is also perfect and close enough to all the sights. I had a pleasant stay and would recommend this to any traveler! It is great value for money! And the free travel pass for all public transport was an immense help, especially for a student budget.

Disliked: I think that the breakfast they offer could be a bit more extensive and also maybe offer more information on affordable places that visitors could go to for dinner or partying.

Liked: spacious showers, great breakfast for only 5 CHF extra, free WiFi and computers, nice lounge downstairs, friendly staff

Disliked: I think the 8-bed-dorm I stayed in was too small: the beds were positioned right next to each other and there was lots of space at one end of the room

Liked: I had a very nice stay there. I stayed in a 5 beds dorm. Every bed has its locker. It's new, clean, the CH 5.- breakfest is very good, it is located only 300m from the SBB railway station in the city center. You get a Mobility Card which enables you to use the public transports for free in Basel. There is a sofa around a fireplace in the lounge.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Helpful and friendly stuff, big lockers in the room, free luggage deposit, 5 minutes walking from the hbf, clean room, nothing to complain about.

Disliked: Breakfast may be a little bit expensive, if it's included it would be perfect.

Liked: clean..safe...close to bus and train station..

Disliked: expensive but according to Switzerland, you might normally be considered...would be better if the egg or sausage for breakfast

Liked: Location is amazing. 3 minutes from the central station by walking. Easy to get anywhere in city thanks to the tram stop nearby and free transportation ticket.

Disliked: It is not a place for meeting other travellers and party people. I even saw families with babies staying in the hostel.

Liked: Very big, new kitchen and breakfast included was good, well set up hostel, big lockers in rooms, we got a free drink each on Monday night - not sure whether that is a regular thing

Disliked: Seemed to be a lot of long-term lodgers there who had their own community within the hostel so difficult to meet people and not very social atmosphere

Liked: YMCA was really clean, well-lit, very near the central train station, and served great breakfasts

Disliked: Didn't dislike anything. It's one of the best hostels I've stayed in

Liked: The property is close to main railway station of Basel. The property is well maintained and kept neat and clean.

Disliked: The room partision are not good enough (sound proof), I had literally difficult time in sleeping during my four night stay. The occupants in the room adjoining me use to sleep very late at nignt and their conversation was loud and audibile enough to disturd the neighbours. It is recommended the guest staying in YMCA may be advised to remain silent/quite after 2230 or 2300 hrs and not to disturb others. This can be told at the time of check -in and also you can consider putting sinages at prominent places incuding rooms.

Liked: This hostel is the best hostel i ever stayed. the toilets and rooms are very clean and tidy. everything was good and they even give us free transportation in basel for the length of our stay.

Liked: Clean and all necessary facillities, relaxed and has pleasant decor.

Disliked: Should bear in mind that checkin really is only from 1530: reception is closed from about 1030 to 1530 so there´s no way you can leave luggage etc. Can access internet and wander around still though.

Liked: I arrived after 11pm due to a delayed flight and they were very helpful, the reception was actually closed but they were still there apparently until 2am and they were expecting me. Nice welcome. Good breakfast with fresh good bread and real coffee. Luggage storage lockers for free so you don't need to check your bag in at the station. Free Wifi, what more can i say...!

Liked: I love how close this hostel is to the train station. I had a series of train delays on my journey there, but it was no problem to find at one in the morning. Even though they specify that one should check in by 11pm, they were very accommodating of my late arrival and had a guy at the front desk until 2am.

Disliked: This hostel is open to families with young children. This was not a negative for me, but could be for some party-hard people (does anyone party in Basel?? I don't know).

Liked: We book this hostel and when we arrive was full, but they give us a private room instead of a bed in a shared room with other backpackers. The guest kitchen and the saloon were recently renovated and they are at the same level at a good hotel, or better. The breackfast is great and the staff is very kindly.

Disliked: Nothing. I think it is the best hostel I have ever stayed, and I have slept in many many places before...
