Disliked: Do not take a room facing one of the patios. They are quiet but smell of food and cigarettes.

Liked: Very helpful manager

Disliked: We had booked two rooms, the first one had a horrible smell of smoke, the other one - of cheap perfume and smoke. Impossible to stay in either of the room. The manager was very nice and gave us our money back and found us another place to spend the night, although we lost the deposit we had paid to HB directly. The hotel didn't seem to be in a good neighbourhood either, although it wasn't very far from the town centre

Liked: The reception is open 24hrs and the receptionist is a nice bloke who will try to speak in English as much as possible - you can even ask for a map of the city. Not right bang in the centre although safe to walk to at night, it's about 5 mins from the bus terminus. Good clean place and towels and sheets are changed daily. We were staying in a twin room en-suite. Also a small flat screen (Spanish) TV!

Disliked: Our room was on the road and slightly noisy. The street lights are very bright and if you're a light sleeper, well....you'll find it hard to sleep. There are shutters which will then make the room extremely dark (you won't know it's morning unless you have an alarm). The coffee shop right next to the hotel was never open - photo when booking the hostel a bit deceiving. TV was all in Spanish and not even 1 English channel. Something you just have to live with!

Liked: Confusion occurs because there is a Hotel San Glorio in a parallel street with a big sign.

Liked: it was a short 5 minute walk from the bus station in Santander, and is easy to find. the reception staff were v friendly, i was a bit worried as the carpet on the stairs was a bit threadbare, but the room was lovely, nice bathroom etc.this place is pretty central location being next to bus and train station. You can hire bikes for free in town which is great.

Liked: Hostal San Glorio is more of a hotel than an actual hostel. However, the price was fair and the room itself was in great condition. English is rarely spoken in Santander, or at the hostel. The WIFI is free, but very slow and is very spotty. I would recommend "Hostel San Glorio" to anyone traveling in the area and wants a bang for their buck with quality service.

Liked: The location was very convenient for us as we had to catch the ferry (not convenient for parking as when we were there in May 2008 the entire road was inaccessible due to roadworks.) Also liked the fact that we could leave our baggage there at no cost on the day we checked out while we looked round Santander.
