Liked: It was right in the middle of Salamanca and everything was easily accessible. Although it did not have air conditioning the rooms did not get too uncomfortably hot. Although it was shared bathroom etc, you did have access to a sink in your room, which made quite a difference. Nice communal area with lots of seating and room to eat - however see below.

Disliked: No kitchen facilities or fridge available.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The hostel does what it says on the tin and is at a very reasonable price.

Disliked: If you have a room that looks onto the Calle Rua Mayor, it is extremely noisy at all times except siesta time, and there is no kitchen or computer area so it is more difficult to meet people in the hostel itself.

Liked: Right in the heart of the town (a little noisy if in the front room). Very clean and friendly. Value for money is amazing. Communal area is great but no kitchen facilities.

Liked: It was in a very convenient location pretty much in the centre of the city (which really isn´t big) and given that there were two doors to go through before reaching your room I felt very secure. It was cool inside after the heat of the street although the room I stayed in got a bit stuffy. Having said that it was very quiet being located at the back of the building. I really liked the fact that it was an old building and given the fact that it cost me 18 euros I thought it was, all in all, very good value.The guy on reception told me that he and his partner had recently taken it over and he was really helpful. He gave me a map, advice and lent me his plug adaptor! If all you need is a cheap, clean and cheerful room in a handy central location then you really can´t ask for more that Hostal Tormes.

Disliked: The only inconvenience for me was that they didn´t provide towels.

Liked: The kindness of the owners and their disponibility to help de client every moment (with information about places in the city and in the province, giving maps and other information documents). The nearness to the Plaza Mayor (only one minute by foot). The cleaness of the room. The quietness of the hostal at the night. The young and familiar ambient.

Liked: The facilities are a bit outdated, but the rooms were clean, and there was free WiFi. The front desk was not always staffed, but guests were given keys to open the exterior door and the door into the hostel. The hostel was a good value for the price, and the location more than made up for any shortcomings in the facilities. The hostel is within walking distance of the Plaza Mayor, the cathedral, the university, and most other major sights.

Liked: NONE of the staff spoke English. We got 1 key to the room and got locked out at 1:30am and no one was there to let us in. No WIFI. Rude staff, not a single smile once. Their credit card machine was broken and when we told them they had to pay our ATM fee, they tried to split the fee with us instead of just admitting the mistake. Towels were not ready until our second day. I would NOT stay here again.

Liked: Hostal Tormes is a "hostal", note, and not a youth-oriented backpacker's "hostel". This means it is more like a pension, which means it doesn't have a common room or kitchen etc. It is not a place to hang out. It does provide free Wi-Fi.However, it represents amazing value and the rooms are very lovely. Best for us, after several weeks of sharing big dorms, a private double was the same price as a dorm at Hostal Tormes!! Also, the staff were lovely and went beyond the call in assisting us. Overall, we had a very peaceful and restful stay, which enabled us to recharge our batteries for the next part of our trip.

Liked: although the kitchen wasnt said by the management on the website when we ask them to use the kitchen they allowed us and it was so kind of them. the location was perfect. we didnt face any problem. also it was so clean and the staff were so hearty, helpful. we suggest everyone this hostel.

Liked: Staff were very nice, helpfull and friendly. They allowed me to leave my luggage there even after my check out time. It is very close to the main places, just two minutes walking from plaza mayor. Honest price!
