Liked: The man who ran the hostel was AMAZING! He gave me heaps of tips of where to go and what to see and fully marked up a map for me - and he did it all as a courtesy, I didn't even have to ask. His friendliness made a good hostel even better! the bathrooms were all good quality and the bed was quite comfortable. I had a single room as no dorms were available when I booked and it was cozy, had a cupboard and its own sink which was a good touch. Nice bright walls and comfortable common room. Excellent location on the street between Plaza Mayor and the cathedral.

Disliked: Nothing, I really enjoyed my stay.

Liked: The location was perfect: about a three minute walk from Plaza Mayor. The staff was great. We were helped by a man named Carlos who went out of his way to give us great suggestions for where to eat, where to go out, and what to see. The facilities were also well maintained and clean.

Disliked: I don't really have any complaints about the property. The 2-people suites only have one queen-sized bed, but for our group, that was comfortable. Hostal Tormes was great, and the staff was more helpful and accommodating than I could have imagined. If I was ever visiting Salamanca again, I would definitely stay in this hostal again.

Liked: the nice staff, who told you all about Salamanca and where to best eat tapas and the cleanliness was good

Disliked: that i couldn't quit the heating, it was sweltering in the room despite opening the window!

Liked: Safety and the possibility to leave luggage there the last day.

Disliked: Extremely noisy place at night because of drunk students screaming, heats work ramdomly, staff is absent all night long, no breakfast included, no kitchen and restaurants around don't open untin 1 pm, problems with cold water which took half an hour to be solved.

Liked: The staff was incredibly helpful. The host gave us a rundown on all the places of interest on the nightlife, which is of particular importance for students.

Liked: The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and informative. Everything was very clean and cheery. The location was great! Right downtown and easily within walking distance of all the main attractions of Salamanca. I would definitely recommend this hostel!

Liked: I liked the fact that is is located in Calle Rua Mayor and this is very central to Salamanca University (la facultad de filologia and the building for ERASMUS students to go to the internacional assitance of the University - located at Casa Badel. The staff are very helpful both Javier and Carlos and they do speak English as well, which helps with orientating yourself to this city. They offer free maps which is very handy before you find the tourist office at the Plaza Mayor.

Disliked: I didn't like the fact that no breakfast is included in the price and that they don't have a kitchen. They do however have a living room/dining room in which you can eat what you purchase from outside. It can also be a bit noisy during the night but generally this a safe and clean place to stay. Expect a bit of noise at night since the majority of hostel bookers are 18-25 yrs old. I preferred to take a single room with ensuite bathroom which was more expensive but was definitely the right choice for me. Given that I am a mature student of 35 yrs old and have done the party scene.
